Electrical Tech / Re: 83 Digital Dash Fuel Sending Unit Options
Groovy, thanks.

So the electrical connector on the Mustang sender...it is the same as your stock T-Bird one?

I'm currently writing an article about replacing fuel system components for the website and like you, I found that some of these units  (especially the fuel pump with sending unit combo) are just not directly replaceable. And it doesn't help that 1983-84 components seem to be unique. In those instances you'd either have to modify something else, as you're doing, or have your stock one rebuilt. One of the big 'ifs' is that connector and I'm just trying to clarify from your experience with these.

I just had my total fuel system replaced...new tank, hanger assembly, sending unit. Luckily these are still available, although I had to install a used filler neck as they're not available new anymore. I was fortunate and got a Mustang sending unit to work without much issue.

I've also heard that Tempo/Topaz senders might work, haven't verified that though.

Engine Tech / Re: Question about switching to a Mustang GT cam
EEC processor is indeed behind the passenger side kick panel. Remove panel, remove insulation. There is a white-colored plastic bracket holding the processor in at an upward angle; one bolt (10mm?) needs removed and the bracket can swing out of the way-ish, allowing the processor to drop down. The wiring harness is held in by one 10mm bolt.

IIRC the digital gauges sweep a couple of times a second. There's probably a delay in there somewhere and I'd bet that's it. But you may be right, ignition on might initiate the sweep. You'll know as soon as you start driving it.

Otherwise...this is an awesome job overall, you're undoubtedly going to help others here with the same issue.

Hi John! That doesn't exist anymore...we lost some things when transitioning over to the new board software. Everyone is posting projects out in the open now.

Electrical Tech / Re: Source for dome/map light connectors?
Those are exactly what you need. I don't recall ever seeing them separate...no idea why, probably because the wiring is so tight that there's not a whole lot of room to cut and splice. But that will work for sure.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / Re: 1985-88 Radio/Dash Panels WANTED
Yeah that's not bad. I had those panels in my old '88 T-Bird Sport and liked them a lot. I'm just not sure if I want to go with brushed aluminum panels for the convertible. The XR7 panels are sooooo much rarer and that's what's enticing me LOL. Thanks!

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / 1985-88 Radio/Dash Panels WANTED
Looking for some needles in the proverbial haystack here...

Want to get a dash surround bezel/panel and matching radio/center stack panel for console car. What I really want are the 1987-88 XR7 style, with the butcher block pattern. I do not want woodgrain. The brushed aluminum style...not my first choice but I can consider them for the right deal.

This is for the convertible so these panels need to be show quality or near perfect with all bolt holes intact. (Well, as many as possible, I'm a realist LOL.)

XR7 instrument panel surround should be p/n E7WY-66044D70-C
XR7 radio panel surround should be p/n E5WY-66044D70-K, might be E7WY

Like I said, longshot but I'm taking that shot here. If you have something you think would work, please let me know. I'm not in a huge rush and would rather wait for the correct parts than throw something together. Thanks.

Just an update...

Thanks to everyone who donated, you guys RAWKKKK. We're good for another year. Hoping there's enough for this coming fall when we get billed again but I'm thinking we should be all right.

Appreciate the help!
