My 87 LX

Well Guys, I finally decided it was time to stop playing around and waiting on hitting the lottery.... I recently bought a truck with my donor motor in. The 460 Ford I have origionally had a EFI 302 in it. It was blown of course but came with almost everything to rebuild it. In the midst of the 460 swap... I decided that the 302 was gonna stay in the bird for now.. Shes gonna be carbed with a decent low-rent RV style cam in it. I havent given up on her Its just been troublesome between college and a fulltime job/side jobs Well tax time is going to roll through soon and Im hopefully going to be amping up the suspention on the old girl. Tube k-member, coil overs, 5lug, FR manny steering rack blah blah.

Shes been fired up quite a few times over the past 3yrs but no real drive time on her.. shortly after the 5-spd 8.8 swap i some how spun a bearing...... 3500, 2nd gear smoke show......

Shes been neglected and im getting the ford itch sooo bad its time to start playing

Enjoy

Is that a roller motor? If so just stick a stock HO roller cam in it. It'll give ya plenty of grunt.

nope non roller estimated for idle-3500 which is basic operating range.. but used to pull a ton more weight. it should have no problem doing what i want it to do for now

lol. the bird has had many motor idears in the past 8 years ive had it. it went 306...347...331...351...393...408...427...460........408. lol ive finally settled on a 408 just because of cost for one for 2 it has the capabilities of all that i want it to do without having to have a dart or merlin block. Ill be excited when i get the bottom end done so i can start focusing on H/C/I and possible power adders.....blower maybe? if I hit the lottery or marry a rich car loving woman... lol.

and Graham yeah ive peeked at em but i havent been on here other than to give some updates here and there to make sure yall know im still alive and kickin

Hey ya'll Im still alive and finally putting my rear in gear to start getting some major work done to the ol' bird I picked up a edelbrock performer 289 intake and a procomp hei style distributor for the 302 yesterday for $130 new in box. I ordered the granatelli tubular k-member tubular a-arms, and coil over conversion kit today, going to order the manual rack as soon as humanly possible.

getting my plan of action together..Ive got to do a ton of work to the nose of the bird before I even get close to putting things back together when I tear it apart. I noticed somthing I didnt pay attention to the last time I had the 5.0 out... The previous owner took on a telephone pole when the car was new and it boogered up subframes.... theyre kinked in a touch, so ive got to straighten them out weld up all the swiss cheese mess under the hood and move the battery to the trunk.

picture time.

the new intake and distributor

and the stock intake vs the performer 289

Sweeeeeet !!!! I like that a lot. I'd love to have one. maybe one day. I'd just have to wait til I break something on the front. Everything is less than a year old right now. Man, I like that a lot.
