Engine Tech / 2.3T Lower Intake Sensor Locations
Started swapping sensors over to my new motor, noticed I have quite a few differences between the two intakes. One is a E7 and the other is an E5, both are box style, question is where does the ACT sensor go in the E5 intake?

I assume I will just plug the coolant port on the bottom of the lower as the 88 seems to take coolant temp over by the shock tower.

User Rides / 88 TC aka Bad Decisions
Some background, bought car in 2004ish, it's been a Michigan car it's entire life and as such is rusty as heck.

What's been done:
-Driver floor pan replaced from kick panel to rear well
-Gas tank mounts rebuilt
-Front window frame rebuilt and windshield actually attached to body
-Rebuilt motor and transmission

Went to pull the motor the other night and found the passenger shock tower attached via hopes and dreams. Spoke with scottrodfab and ended up ordering a repair section, mostly because I'm too stupid to declare defeat after dragging this thing around for a bit over a decade. Tomorrow I'm pulling the motor to see what I'm up against.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Swapping 88->83 interior?
Long story short, my 88 TC has severe strut tower rot. I have found a rust free 83, base v6 car with no Powertrain.

My thinking is to just completely swap the 88 into the 83 shell,  as I've only ever had 87/88's, what will not swap over?  My assumption is I can build a complete TC out of my existing 88.

Rear axle out of my last v6 Tbird, complete rear disc setup with quad shocks. Axle has been sitting for a while and will need new rotors and pads most likely. Axle never saw any hard launches with my 3.8, several burnouts though :)

Asking $250 in the Detroit metro area.

Lounge / Anyone know a good source for sewage pumps?
So, I think my effluent pump has failed or is otherwise screwed up.  Its a 1hp 230v single phase pump (myers WHR10-21C), I pulled it out to attempt some testing on it and it doesnt seem to deliver the rated flow of water that the performance curves suggests.  It claims its rated at ~165gpm with a 6ft head (basically just the discharge pipe off the pump and emptying into a bucket, I measured it at a 1 gallon in 5 seconds, 12 gpm...

The pump does move water so Im not totally willing to write it off but in my system that is not nearly enough flow to get the effluent up the street to the leech fields.  Of course the pump listing at $1400 also doesn't excite me too much either. 

Anyone got any ideas for increasing flow or what would cause it to not deliver the rated flow?

Body/Appearance/Interior / Dash top Gauge Pod?
Anyone seen one that would work?  Ideally a pod that accepts 2 5/8" gauges.  Debating on the merits of fiberglassing one together.  Tried to make on to fit the driver speaker grill but the gauges are too tall to clear the high angle windscreen :mad:

Electrical Chatter / Using Autometer Electric senders to trigger warning lights
I have both a electronic FP gauge and a pyrometer I would like to monitor.  My though is I should be able to T a LED and SCR (perhaps a better idea for a gate?) to trigger a LED if one of the gauges fall below a certain level. 

i.e. fuel pressure, ideal level is 5-6 volts depending on boost if it drops below 4.8 I want to trigger a LED mounted next to the gauge to turn on. 

Any Ideas on how to accomplish this? 

The pyrometer would be a high side gauge so I think I can set this to trigger simply with an LED and a known threshold voltage level.  its the below a level and turn on that I am having trouble with.

I am looking to trade for a 87-88 TC T5 harness or a complete tripminder with wiring etc.

Suspension/Steering / Pros/Cons of Running 225 50R16?
Got a set of new tires in 225-50R16, the stock TC wheel is 225-60R16.  Aside from the speedo being off, is there anything that I should be concerned about running this tire set?  its a 1.7" difference in tire height which will lower the car some more.

Lounge / Anbody Shadow their Tool box?
Anybody else done this?  Its required in many industries now for tool control and prevention of FOD.  As I've worked with these boxes before it has become obvious you can be brutally efficient using them and it somewhat prevents losing tools.  Anyone else got their boxes setup like this?  Planning on starting mine tonight.

Been gone for a long while, still have my TC but I've since gotten rid of my other Tbirds.  Hopefully going to get it driving again this summer, but we know how that goes.

Some of you may remember me from years ago, I had a Red 88 v6 Thunderbird.  Anyhow, several months ago I was on the way home from work and I rear-ended a pickup truck totalling my car.  I have a few parst I pulled from it before it got hauled away this morning, mainly the "hi-po" parts that I had installed.  I figured since this board helped me so much in my younger days I can hopefully give some else a nicer faster car and maybe even minimize my loss of the vehicle.

I pulled my '88 ported Intakes (upper and lower), intake spacer (1/2" G10 Fiberglass), ported Throttlebody.  The upper is fully ported as well, I cut the plenum and cut the runners back to increase the volume.  Im looking to get what I have in the welding. -150

My TC Rear, 3.73's, posi, newish discs/calipers etc. etc.  -400

The whole combonation above, along with my Alum. DS took more than a .5 second off of my quarter mile time.

Hopefully I'll be able to hang around here more often,  Im so busy with school now I just have no time...
