Old brake lines... Reply #1 – April 02, 2007, 04:03:52 PM Ooh, spiffy :D I've had that happen to a few cars. Saturns were notorious for it - somebody would do a front brake job and twist the hose the wrong way when they installed the caliper. Wouldn't know anything was wrong until either the line blew or somebody noticed it during a safety inspection.Good job you noticed it before it was brought to your attention in a sudden and violent manner... Old brake lines... Reply #2 – April 02, 2007, 04:05:18 PM The rear brake lines on my Tempo rusted out twice (first one side, then the other). Guess how I found out? Quote Selected

Guess how I found out?Probably the same way I found out the rear brake lines on my '90 Nissan truck rotted - let's just say I didn't hit anything, and the river provided a soft landing (arse first, after I reefed on the emergency brake) :hick: Quote Selected
Old brake lines... Reply #4 – April 02, 2007, 04:33:18 PM Got another 10k miles on it Jeremy. The outer part of the hose is not what holds the fluid. Its a protector for the special liner that actualy holds the fluid pressure. But yeah them bisches are older than dirt when they crack. Quote Selected

Replace them and KNOW you're safe. I put my cars up on the rack once a year and inspect them thoroughly for just that sort of thing. Just because I hate finding out the hard way. Quote Selected
