She's not on the road yet, but I've put 16" TC snowflake wheels on my '86 GS, with 225/55R16's in the front and 245/50R16's in the back. Again, I haven't driven it yet (while it's still waiting for a trans replacement) to know for sure, but it sure looks like the 225/55 inner sidewalls in the front are rubbing the strut. If they're not, they're so dang close it's hard to see a gap. Anybody else had this experience?
50RACER, If the splitters can't be re-used on my car, then I actually only need the driver's side black mirror. I also need the triangle-shaped cover plate that hides the mirror mounting screws for the passenger side. Could you price me just the driver's mirror, and that cover if you have it? Thanks.
So what exactly prevents an '87/'88 headliner from fitting in an '83/'86? The rooflines didn't change that much, did they? I can see the overall length of the '87/'88 being a little longer, but it seems like you could trim that to fit. Just curious. Thanks.
mcb82gt, If he says it's factory, maybe it is. But it just doesn't quite look like something Ford would have built. Are those body-kit parts available from anyone else? The badging on the trunklid looks a little hokey! I'm betting an individual built that car and convinced this guy it was factory. Any other thoughts?
I think you're right about not fitting an '86. By the way, where is Camdenton in MO? I'm originally from Poplar Bluff in SE MO, and my sister lives in Owensville up in the middle of the state. Seems like I've heard of it before. Later.
If anybody else who'll be attending could bring any parts they'd like to sell/swap, that would be great! I'd love to do some swapping. I'll be bringing a bunch of Fox CougarBird stuff, as well as some '97-'03 F150 and '95-'01 Explorer parts. Looking forward to meeting you all. Later.
Were all '85 30th Anniv. Birds made in the same blue/gray paint scheme, and did they all get 5.0's? They came pretty optioned out, too, right? There's another one on CL in another area that has a price of like $7000. I'm guessing the one I mentioned in the original post can be had for a fraction of that, probably a small fraction. Wish I was in a position to make an offer.
Moonmount, So where are you located? I'm sure you're 1000000 miles away from me, but I still thought I'd ask. And, would an '88 headliner fit an '86? What color is your headliner? Thanks for the info.
Your friendly neighborhood CL troller here again. Listed in the SE Missouri area is an '85 30th Ann. T-bird with 30k original miles. Says it's been sitting for a while and is sun-faded inside and out, but runs fine. Says "make offer, need gone ASAP". Only has 1 pic, and it doesn't look mint, but not bad either. Listing ID is 6861336166. Y'all check it out. Later.
Thanks, Eric. I knew you'd probably know the answer. Plan B, would it fit or look right in the bottom slot if I removed the ashtray? I'd have to move the cigarette lighter somewhere, I guess. Just another thought.
I know, it sounds like an odd question. My '86 GS has the cubby-hole pocket in the top slot, the radio in the middle, and the pop-out ashtray in the bottom position. The last owner installed a head unit that does not have a CD player, but does have USB and auxiliary inputs, which I think I will like to keep. I have an older Pioneer CD player that I thought about putting in the slot where the cubby-hole pocket is. I know I'd have to run separate speakers and such. Aside from that, would the same mounting kit fit in that location as it does in the center location? Anybody ever done this or know if it will work? Thanks.
Anybody in the Cincinnati general area? The ad is still up for this '92 Mark VII, says he needs to sell it by the 16th (April, I assume), 1 owner, new transmission, 100k miles, $800 or make offer. Somebody needs to go get that car. Again, needs fuel pump and tires. Land line number is 513-984-5121 (no texting). CL listing number is 6851680483. If an admin doesn't mind, please also post this in the "Leads" area of the For Sale section. Thanks.
