On the other hand you never know what it needed for work. I agree it is sad, luckily for me there wont be any 87-88 birds or cougars crushed, they don't qualify anymore. :)

why don't they qualify?

Did you stay parked there long enough for the owner to come walking back, and seeing it, realizing he/she had been busted, just for the look on their face? I would have, lol. :mullet:

Busted?

I would love to have ya "bust" me owning one.

Lounge / Full $4500 clunker trade-in?
Quote from: 83-88T-Bird Guy;283244
Also, to qualify for the credit, you have to prove you have owned the car for over 1 year.

More than that, you have to prove insurance on it for a year..

Important Things to Know

 • Your vehicle must be less than 25 years old on the trade-in date
 • Only purchase or lease of new vehicles qualify
 • Generally, trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG (some very large pick-up trucks and cargo vans have different requirements)
 • Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in
 • You don't need a voucher, dealers will apply a credit at purchase
 • Program runs through Nov 1, 2009 or when the funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
 • The program requires the sping of your eligible trade-in vehicle, and that the dealer disclose to you an estimate of the s value of your trade-in. The s value, however minimal, will be in addition to the rebate, and not in place of the rebate.

Lounge / To all those quacks who think the moon landing was fake
Quote from: 20th anny 5.o;282653
You know what they will say that was all faked in a lot on some Hollywood set just like the original moon landing. A good question to ask those quacks is how , If we never landed on the moon or entered into outer space we now have satellites.

(sighs) im not getting into this retarded debate so i will respectfully bow out of this one. Believe what you want.

Lounge / New Cars
My son bought one about just over a year ago. I don't know the call letters but it's second from the top.. (Hemi, but not the SRT or whatever the top model was that the dealership wanted an additional 10K for). Last time I talked to him (2 weeks ago) he has had no problems, just loves it, loves the power, But being 25, loaded with cash, living in Calfornia working at a collage campus, it still wasent enough.. he had a super charger installed that he says (I'm assuming he is exagerating a bit) is +150hp @ 5000rpm.. still loves it, still no problems, and is suppose to be coming home next weekend for 4 days... I'll know more then and see if any of the problems described above have cropped up for him.

last time he was up (pre supercharger) it snowed, he has Track Control... he said it's a death trap in the snow, But then again he's military, been all over the world.. not sure how much snow driving he has done.

I, on the other hand have lived here my whole life (about 30 years driving in the snow about every year) and I bought a Supercharged 04 Monte Carlo SS last fall, with traction control..(FWD) this thing went everywhere except about 10 feet of the steepest part of my driveway I couldent get up... I live on top of a mountan and that Monte would climb right up the hill compleatly covered in snow.

Lounge / Bird or 'mont?
Quote from: bhazard;281360
Its not my only car, I have two other running driving cars, in fact I am not even driving the bird right now, Im driving a capri xr2.

I miss understood, that changes everything. I think in that case  salvaging what you could off the "soggy metal" car and getting that mont on the road would be a good plan.

Lounge / Bird or 'mont?
I would do little, or nothing if I was in your shoes.
Drive the bird, wait it out for better $ times, then make the decision. To take my only running car apart to do any kind of project to it, when I was short on $ sounds like something I would have done 30 years ago, time has taught me to be patient.
THEN ya never know, another good part's car could come along for the faimont, you could work on it while still having the bird to make part's runs for whatever needed.

Lounge / Transformers 2
seen it this weekend, well worth the $5.
I would like to see them slow down the cg action scenes a bit though. I know, I know, "action scenes are suppose to be fast", well then pan out a bit or something.. they just turned into a blur of a robotic kaleidoscope flashing across the screen that I couldn't see what bot was fighting what.
I wouldn't let that stop anybody from going to see it. Movie was good, plot was good, soundtrack was good, lot's of good shot's of the bots... and well Megan Fox!!

Lounge / Jon and Kate plus eight
wow, I think your a little strong on that aren't you TC? Yes what your describe does happen.. but I'm not sure about the "more often than not".. my first thought there is like everything else when it DOES happen, it get's the media spotlight... when it doesn't it's ignored, is well known that dirty laundry sells.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_actor <- yes I'm lazy and let somebody else do the research for me!

Effects

Many actors' careers are short-lived, and this is also true of child actors. Peter Ostrum, for example, is now a successful large-animal veterinarian after a starring role in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Most notably, Shirley Temple became a successful public figure and diplomat, eventually becoming U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, then United States Department of State Chief of Protocol under the Nixon Administration, and then in the late 1980s U.S. Ambassador to Czechoslovakia. Brandon Cruz is a successful punk rocker, after a co-starring role in The Courtship of Eddie's Father, Jenny Lewis, formerly of Troop Beverly Hills, is a well-known indie rock musician, and Kirk Cameron is a successful minister, after a co-starring role in Growing Pains.
Tragic and well publicized examples exist in which a child actor falls into self-destructive behavior. However, it has not been demonstrated that this hazard occurs more frequently in child actors than in the general population. One study by Lisa Rapport, Ph.D. concluded that
"the present findings also indicate that the environment of the entertainment industry is not necessarily toxic to normal development. Instead, the results support the well-established theory that good parenting serves as a buffer for life stress."[1]
I think that's the bottom line..."well-established theory that good parenting serves as a buffer for life stress."
with bad parenting even kids that aren't actors could go the way you talk of... happens quite often actually.
