Where to find trim?

Does anyone know a place, buisness, or web site that would sell brand new replacement trim for an 84' T-bird?

There are absolutely no vendors that sell new parts for these cars. It sucks but that's something we have to deal with. Most people try to find better pieces at the salvage yard. Right now, your only hope for finding new pieces would be NOS (new old stock) at swap meets or eBay.

I thought that aerobird sold replacement trim. might drop him a PM and see what he has to offer.

That's not true. I DO sell NEW parts for these cars. :flip: Granted, it's not many, but it's infintely more then without me. I do sell new trim inserts, but new trim period just isn't something that will happen. Thankfully, the wide trim on these cars is very easy to restore.

Wasn't trying to slight you Michael...I just like to initiate noobs to the reality of having one of these cars.

He didn't exactly expound upon the 'trim' thing...could be window trim, molding, interior trim, etc. I was doing a cover-all thing.

Hehehe, true. In actuality though, I sent a mint set of vent window and non-vent door moldings to a rubber company to be re-made. And I'm learning (unsuccesfully) how to resin-cast so I can make new pull-handle covers. :D Gotta have a hobby!

Why not? That stuff gets trashed really easily and is impossible to locate anymore. You'd be doing us a favor if you got this stuff repopped.

How is it easy to restore? If it gets scuffed or torn, it is destroyed. I want something better than a repaint.

My personal feelings are that any repro molding should be made in fiberglass or ABS plastic. Lighter, stronger, more consistent, reusable. They wouldn't be as ding-resistant but let's face reality here: beltlines are way higher on newer cars than back from our era. If someone swings open their door into yours, you're going to get a ding well above the beltline anyhow. That's the way it's always been. Hell, I've always felt our beltlines were too low to begin with. So really, our molding becomes more decoration or "the finishing touch" rather than functional. Why not solve all the problems, and make it reusable and lighter? With removable chrome pieces too...that way we can keep Mike in business.

Back to the trim at the local bar statement...he was referring to picking up a woman.

It helps when you post a blanket statment like "trim" that you be a bit more specific in what you are after. The more info you give the masses the more replies you will get that will actually help you.
