It’s that time again! :headbang:
Schedules are confirmed, and we are gonna crash another dyno day at Greg's(5.8fastcat) shop in Owensboro KY on Aug. 23, 2014.
After the conclusion of the dyno day FTBCF attendees will be hanging out thru the afternoon, then we will head over to a local cruise-in for the evening.
We are excited to see our regulars again this year, and look forward to welcoming all others who make it out. Hope to see ya there!
For anyone planning travel days around Saturday's festivities, the local Days Inn has been the hotel of choice for our group. Rooms are clean, rates are reasonable, they have a pool, and no one has bothered us hangin out in the parking lot at late hours in the night.

Woo-Woo! :D
Gumby , I talked with the manager today to give those who want to stay at the Day's Inn a discount rate of $75 + tax for both Friday & Saturday nights just like last year's price. About a $20 savings but they need to say they are with the ThunderCat group to get that discount. :poke:
Thank you, Dan!
I might try and swing out.
Wooo
Let's see if I can get the car running again, maybe I can make it out finally. (probably not lol :()
Reservation made. Not sure which vehicle will be coming out there with me yet.
Thanks Karl might not have cougar there as my wife Paula lost her job and her cat needs another fuel pump and funds are low.
P.s. I hope to be in my d-driver pickup over there though.
My reservation is in as well! :roxor:
Coming down Friday evening and heading home Sunday morning. Unless there is a massive attack of stupid between now and then, the white Tbird will be there - same as every year!
Awesome! Looking forward to seeing everyone again. :)
Don't know if I'll be able to make it. Wife will be having major surgery in the next couple of weeks..
Fresh blood!
PS, where is Mark?! (86T-bird)
Plan on being there in one of the birds Dan! Don't know which one yet.
Thanks Jeff and glad to know u can make it up here this year friend. :burnout:
Nothing I bring will be going on a dyno though. Either a limo, Jag, Cruella de Vil car, Cougar, two Cougars, LTC, or maybe just an FJ. The weather forecast will play a role in determining which car or cars I bring. I'm just coming to hang out and meet up with some good people of this community. Same plans though as someone else here. Coming in Friday afternoon/evening and leaving Sunday unless something comes up between now and then.
Hi all,
this sounds really cool! I plan on making it down for a day...prob Saturday.
Thanks Kyle are you driving in from Terre Haute,In or VA ?
T haute!!!
I'll be there too, but the Bird will be sitting it out again. It had a little smoke fest in the wire harness under the blower and my focus has been on prepping the Mustang for Drag Week. So I'll likely bring my work car (it's not domestic or usually welcomed in the gear head world, so no judgments that I don't qualify as a gear head!). Any way, It'll be great to have a chance to see everyone.
Mark
Dan, when is the Mercury fest in 2014?
Mike , Here is the info you asked for friend.
http://www.mercuryclub.com/
Good to hear from you Mark! You know we won't excommunicate you for not having the 'bird present, but you and Jeremy will probly hafta park together again this year.....
If I end up getting a Prius v this Friday, I'll park by myself and heap smug at yous guys!
Wish I could ride in Mark's 'bird... /sadface
Me too!
A lot of great work has been accomplished with focus on addressing details. Unfortunately since finally getting the rear main addressed and the roll bar installed, electrical gremlins have haunted it. The good news: The cripsy circuit is now easy to find. The bad news: Extensive relocation and rewiring is necessary to ensure a minimal of issues in the future.
I do have a running project car though. And it will make a trip down to Greg's in September when we all take off for Drag Week (it starts in Tulsa this year). I recently completed a ~650 mile shake down run and had no mechanical issues, though I came back with a list of items to improve the comfort, reliablity and (hopefully) quickness.
Sorry for the huge pics... The time slip was the second test & tune. Hope to have a few more sessions for additional tweaks.
OK Folks.
Sorry for being so far behind the power ball.
I have been working on a deal with a local Ford Dealership. The long and short of it is that I have joined their dealership with my son.
We are currently moving the dyno and shop equipment to the new shop.
The dyno day will still be on as planned, just we will be at the dealership.
Here is the new address it is located only 10miles from the old shop
Champion Ford Reo
3078 West State Route 66
Rockport,In 47635
Is everyone still staying at the Days Inn 20 minutes away in Owensboro?
Karl , The Hotel is located 1 mile south of Greg's old Dyno shop making it an 11 mile ride north to his new location. If any of you folks need help finding his new place let me know. I was hoping to meet up somewhere for breakfast with 86tbird , JeremyB & gumby and hopefully Greg and Ray.
p.s. Greg congrats on your new location friend.

Just wanted to chime in -
I thoroughly enjoyed my DynoDay (weekend) experience last summer, but won't be making it this time, as I report back for duty (work) on August 18th this year. Afraid I'm bit too far away for road trip right before the kids show up for the first day of school on the 25th. Y'all try to have fun without me, if that's even possible!
One week away!
Sorry you won't make it out, Royce. My kids started back to school this year on July 30th! Balanced schedule.
Then I must be mapping the wrong locations. It's showing a 28-minute drive but I don't care about the drive. As long as I've made reservations at the right place where everyone else is. I don't think I screwed that up so I should be at the same place on Friday as everyone else if I can still make it. I'll just follow someone on Saturday morning.
Will there be enough parking at the dealership for a truck with a 24 foot trailer ?
Karl, you are in the right place. Days is where we have all stayed each year.
The shop venue change is all very recent, so if we need to adjust for next year we will figure that out this go 'round.
Alan, here is a satellite pic from Google, looks like plenty of room
Thanks for the new info gumby.
I'm going to try and make the drive up on Friday. I'll park next to the Prius. :D
Is there a general itinerary for Saturday? I will probably have to head back sometime Saturday evening.
Open dyno time will be 9a-12p. After that it's usually pretty free choice, we work out meals together and evening activities. Come and go as you please, it would be great to finally meet you, Antonio!
We'll try to do our best! Sorry to see you can't make it. :(
It's a Prius v, get it right!! :D
Do you know if the dyno can export the actual numbers from the run? Do I need a memory stick?
The Prius v is itching to show y'all up!
Good question for Greg! I will see if I can figure that out, I know how you like your data... :hick:
Need moar data!
Unfortunately, I won't be leaving until late afternoon on Friday. So, I'll stay overnight somewhere on the road and arrive mid morning on Saturday.
Mark
Everybody have a safe trip to Owensboro and remember to bring sweaty clothing as Mother Nature has dealt us another hot humid weekend for this gathering. :flame:
Is there a rough estimate of how many cars will be there? Since mine is no where near running or driving state, I'll be in the SHO but hate to drive 2 hours for a handful of cars.
Well, I goofed and forgot to book my room and now they be all gone. :(
So I booked a room at Comfort Inn, right down the road from Champion Ford.
See you guys tomorrow!
I was afraid of that. No dice. :catbang:
I believe everyone who is likely to show has posted in this thread. If you decide not to come, there will be one less.
I rarely head-count until the actual event happens, for any car meet. Too many no-shows to get everyone's hopes up.
I repeat to my local club often, if you want more stuff to happen you gotta just do stuff. Partition is exponential. When you do stuff, others will join in. If you sit around waiting, how many others are waiting as well?
I drove 4 hours to in a non-Ford hybrid! :mullet: I go months without seeing a Fox T-bird/Cougar, and when I do, it's invariably a beater. Rare chance to see the Foxes and the people who care about them!
I fell victim to this two years ago. For whatever reason, this Days Inn blocks out all reservations online whenabouts the ThunderCat Day occurs. You have to call to get a room. I made my reservation about 6pm today. lol.
Bedtime for deez nutz.
Gumby , did you all decide on a breakfast place joint this morning ?
No group plans for breakfast this AM. Doughnuts at the shop
Good point. Unfortunately my plans changed this morning, and I won't be free to go. Is this an annual event?
This is our 5th year in a row but our date has changed just about every year.
Just got out of the pool while everyone else took naps...who are these people I hangout with??? Headed for a cruise night after some dinner.
Antonio, it was good to meet you! Hope to see some of the pics you took very soon.
Thanks Greg for hosting another great Dyno event and for all of the attendees great seeing you guys again, besides the scorching temps we had a great turnout for the this Dyno day. :birdsmily::cougarsmily::flame:
p.s. And yes there is a plan for our 6th year Of this gathering in 2015 fella's. :headbang:
It was nice meeting you too!
I had fun even though the weather wasn't ideal.
I posted my pics here.

Best car at the shop... ;)

Couldn't find a tie-down on the front due to the mass of plastic for aero, so no dyno numbers! :p
Wow! There were a lot of nice rides there! I'm going to have to go one of these years...we'll see if I can blow the dyno up with my high-mile 5.0.
I really like that white Ranger w/2.3T. That little truck is super cool!
It was great seeing everyone again. I posted the pictures I took along with a couple videos. You can check them out here:
http://s1129.photobucket.com/user/93Marquis/library/Thunder%20Cats%202014
I drive down thru Bloomington, and right past Bloomfield every year...
Well we could just make a convoy out of it then! I was up through Mooresville a few weeks ago heading to the state fair. I looked for your car at that parts place you work part time but didn't spot it. Thought I'd stop and say "hi" if you were around.
Yeah, the Tbird was down with a busted control arm right around fair time. :disappoin
