Thanks that’s a huge help. Wish Haynes or Chiltons had a simple call out for grounds. Thursday starts my 5 days off. So I’m dropping the tank. See what’s what and cleaning grounds one by one.

While it’s on my mind. I have the LS with the digi dash. Haven’t noticed a temp or oil pressure idiot lights..shined a flashlight in the cluster can’t see anything.

The digo dash has a chime for low oil. If any if the guages read outside of normal, they beep and flash.

I believe there is a no oil and a few other lights, but they are hidden fairly well in the bottom part of the cluster, along where the buttons are.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

KYay.......just so happens the door chimer doesn’t work either.  🤬 I suppose if I was running around at 270 degrees with 5 lbs of oil pressure Guess I’d notice. Maybe I’ll add a nice set of gauges where the lighter/premium amp switch is housed. Never understood the meaning of the amp switch......so if your not a well liked passenger your not getting a slightly better audio experience? Or save the paper speakers for special events. Anniversaries. “ hey baby it’s been 5 years so tonight we’re listening to The little river band...... with the PREMIUM audio selection” 😂

By today's standards, the stock audio stuff in a Fox Bird is archaic.

For it's time though, it was pretty good.

If you want a Cadillac, you're in the wrong place.

Remember, the last Fox Bird/Cougar is now over 30 years old.....what DO you expect from the car?

Just find the switch funny, totally not needed but I’m sure was a “extra” cost item.

In general what absolutely sends me into a fit is these garages.  Now there’s places like South main auto channel.Granted YouTube.... Where he tests sensors with oscilloscopes, tracks down faults repairs the car. Gas monkey garage can put a hellcat engine in a 70s challenger. Yet 5+ garages can only do what a OB2 scanner.....if they have the correct scanner for your model ......tells them.

These shops just focus on turn over on the bays. Yet they call themselves mechanics. Almost anyone can do a lube or brake job. So now it’s up to me to rip the entire fuel system out in my attached garage. Anyone from Pittsburgh? I’ll  give you $1500.00 to do the pumps and blow out the lines. :)

Pretty sad I had more access to repair work with my 1979 Datsun then I do with this mercury. Eh sentimental value sucks otherwise it would be on fire 🤬

Most in-an-out "general" places ain't gonna touch a fuel system overhaul such as what a 32 year old car like yours needs.

The money is in the 20 minute oil changes, the brake jobs, and airing up of tires and lubing the suspension..

The bigger shops CAN pull codes, but how many Fox cars do you reckon they see?

I'd bet not very shaging many.

Burn it down, it's your car, IDGAF.

FWIW though, the fuel tank and lines are easy to take down and clear out.

What relevance that has with actors working on brand new cars on TV shows is completely shagin' beyond me, however.

Oh, they have a hellcat? "yawn".

There is a big difference between a mechanic and a diagnostics guy. Id say I'm more of a mechanic.

If you have a 30+ year old car you should probably figure out how to work on it. Quite a few mechanics you'll find were either a couple years old or not even born when the last Fox ThunderCat rolled off the assembly line.

As an aside I was at a car show this past weekend with my Thunderbird. I was talking to an older gentleman and he asked me if I had bought my car new. I told him no, as I was a little over 2 years old when it rolled off the production line, but I have owned it for 17 years.
