Wasnt 86 the transition year for motor mounts, from the block type to the pedestal ones?
I dont know about the 2.3 ones but my original mounts on my 3.8 v6 86 tbird were the hydraulic pedestal type. When i replaced them with the only available replacement, solid type, the motor shook and the car vibrated thru the steering wheel for months afterwards.

What mounts did you install? Regardless, poly are going to transmit more vibrations than the big stock gumballs. Especially on a 2.3T.

Did you save the old motor mounts, especially the bracketry? On the 86-88 you can just replace the isolators.

RockAuto can be kind of screwy on things like this.

They show squat for 86-88 2.3 cars, but plenty for the MN-12 cars, which use the same isolators. You could use any of the mounts listed ROCKAUTO LINK HERE with the stock brackets.

go over to rock auto and order either type.

you may have another issue though if its not firing right.

tell your mech he can pull the codes or you can with just a paper clip or a test light.

Engine Tech / 302 oil pan gasket
Last post by jcassity -
i ordered a mahle metal/rubberized single piece oil pan gasket but before i installed.  i made a template for future use.
if anyone would like to make their own gasket out of a material such as what i use ( KARROPAK).

i made the templated using "fish paper" which is a telecommunications part aka "fiber paper".

if anyone is ineterested in making their own oil pan gasket, i can mail this template out to you as long as you send it back.
it will fold up into a standard envelope so its not costly.  ask for scott at 304 772 4082 if you want to borrow it.

as for the front and rear part and sealing up things,, just follow my template and these two areas are wide enough to span the grooved out area where you would fill with silicone then use your flat gasket and button up the pan.

i guess what i am saying is i have a template for you to make your own "single piece" gasket out of materia you have.

happy new year by the way
