1990 SC v6 engine runs on at WOT

Friend has a super charged v6 1990 xr7,

He says the engine will not start or idle unless he has the gas to the floor.  When it is running with the pedal to the floor, there is a huge amount of black smoke.  He seems to feel that the car is getting way way too much gas.
He is pulling a code 48
He is not sure what system this is but i believe the EECIV codes might apply the same as on our 83-88cars.

i mentioned a.....
vac leak
stuck egr
TPS sensor is in a bind in what would be the wot postion.
fpr

Can anyone confirm code 48 on a 1990 is the same as on our fox cars?

48 calls out a vac leak and possible coil/spark issues.

any advice or suggestions?

im not sure about the code, but what you can do is pull the vaspoogee line off of the fpr and see if that clears up how it runs, and if the fpr is dumping gas out of the port for the vaspoogee line, theres the problem
It's Gumby's fault.

do the mn12 eec codes cross ref the same as fox codes?
he changed the map,FPR and check (visually) for vac leaks.  It is also a DIS system.

From '84 shop manual code 48 is a "fuel control" code.
They run through tests of the EGO sensors and circuits.
The fuel injectors balance and leak down.
Shorts to voltage in an injector circuit.(holding an injector open all the time).
The fuel pressure regulator.
