Ok, my reverse is toast. Now heres the deal, I have an AOD out of an '84 LTD that had the police package. Now I'm curious if I can use that trans. The other thing I'm wondering about is the number on the bell housing. My bird has 52 stamped on it and one off the LTD has 54, I was just wondering what those stood for.
Would it be possible to use an alt. out of an 84 LTD? Cause I have an HO out of an LTD that had the police pakage. The alt in my bird will run the car but it wont charge the battery. I know the connections are different but it looks like it has the same three wires. I just dont feel like paying almost $100 for an alt when I got a relativly new one in the garage. I dont care if I have to cut apart the plug for the alt.
$50, thats a good deal, I paid $150 and its worse than yours, and I thought that was a good deal. Now I gotta post pictures of my $150 hoopty. I shoulda took the pictures today since it was nice out, now I'm gonna have to brush all the snow off tomarrow.
Buddy of mine is actually thinking about doing this. Car is already the right color, well kinda, most of the time it looks spot on but when the light is just right its red. He had it painted performance red(so he says) but most of the time it looks orange.
cougarcrager- My freinds dad has the dixie horn and a 3 on the back window of his truck.
If could find a way to get it here I'd get it in a heartbeat. Not sure about driving it that long of a distance. Plus I keep finding things wrong with my car, and I got a feeling it would die just leaving the county. If I could find a cheap way to get it here I would. Not a bad looking truck tho. Hood could use a good sandblasting and few coats of primer. Oh well. Guess I'll have to keep looking around here, cant really afford to have anything shipped right now, but thanks for the pic tho, always nice to see an old ford still around. Just wish I could find one around here worth putting money in.
Check the harness. My entire left side cuts out whenever it feels like it. I gotta beat the console into submission to get it to work again. I've been meaning to go back there and fix the wires.
I had to punch the back seat to get the back ones to work. Finally got fed up and ran new wires.
Got any pics? Been looking for a cheap truck that wasnt rusted to hell. Only thing is distance. Not sure I want to go that far. Plus the engine would have to be installed and running. I aint got any way to get it here unless I drive it. I do love that year tho.
My car aint good enough for Cardomain. Its a $150 car that was gonna be sent to the junkyard(hence the title under my name). I'll try and post screens tomarrow.
I got my jack and stands from Sears for $75. Regular price was $150. It's a 3 1/2ton Professional Series. Had to return the first one cause it sprung a leak.
Same battery I got. Friend told me to unhook the battery cable and see if it stays running. Last I checked that was a sure fire way to kill an alt. The thing I still dont get, the car will keep running just fine all day long, had the wipers and radio on today, nothing died down. Got home, shut it off, tried to start it back up, cranked about twice and quit. I really dont get this car.
I used the scissor jack for a while. Never went under it without something else hodling it up tho. Now I got a Craftsman Pro. 3 1/2ton quick lift :ies:
Well then this means I've gotton two bad batteries in a row. Both checked out fine at autozone, oh wait, they were them cheapies, so the cold probably been f'n with them. I'll just give the battery a full charge later, and just keep charging it when it gets low. I should get my tax refund sometime soon(aint gonna be much) and just buy a nice one.
