Carpet removal

Do I have to pull the dash to remove the carpet?
1988 Thunderbird Sport. Work in Progress
5.8L swap w/fitech efi, 4R70W swap w/quick 4 controller, 2003 GT rear diff, 5 Lug swap

Bought this car back as an old project car.

No but if you have a center console it needs to come out.

It was a challenge to get out but I got it. The tabs that drop down to locate the front of the console acted like carpet spikes.
