At The Track / Good day at the track
Went to Hobbs, NM for some test hits on the bird.

First run, knocked out a 10.17@131. New best with no bottle in the car.

Second run, accidently turned the top bulb off while transitioning from foot brake to transbrake which turned on the red. I sat there for another couple of seconds and then realized the clock had started so I finally took off. Ran a 12.60@131, lol!

3rd run, said eff it lets put the bottle in. Retarded max timing from 17 to 15 as I wasn't sure what the car would do. I hit the spray (50 shot) about 20-30 feet out so it wouldn't blow the tires off. Didn't feel any faster going down track and sure enough, 10.16@132...hmmmmm.

4th run, put the 2 degrees back in it and ran again (with the nitrous)..9.85@136! I guess it liked the timing, lol.

5th run, added 1 more degree for a total of 18 and tried again. Car spun more this time but still managed a 9.98@135.

6th run, made no changes and tried again. Still spun too much but still ran 9.93@135.

I really need to utilize the 2 stage boost control feature on my EBC as the tires can't seem to handle more than about a 18psi boost launch. Sweet spot seems to be between 15-18psi.

All in all, had a great time.

At The Track / First track outing of 2017
Took the bird to an 1/8th mile track about 160 miles away for some test hits.
First run, it didn't hook good. It actually didn't feel like a regular spin, more like the car was vibrating for the first 15-20 feet. I wonder if the tire pressure needs to come up now that the lower rear control arms are pretty much level.
Anywho, went 6.48@110 with a lousy 1.59 60'. Here is the vid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS3oiOnl3lk&feature=youtu.be

Second run, launched but could not go into second gear. Found out the e-clip holding the shift cable on either broke or popped off. Didn't have an e-clip so that ended my day. After the 1-2 shift didn't happen, I just coasted the rest of the way to a 8.02@61mph, lol.

At The Track / TC finally broke into the nines!
Finally did it last Friday night. Went 9.94@135 on my first and only pass. 60' was kind of blah at 1.51 but it definitely picked up from there. Went 6.34@110 in the 1/8th as well.
Cost me another HG though. When we were staged the tree wouldn't come down so the starter motioned for us to back up. I let off the gas and t-brake but left the N20 button pushed for a split second too long I think. You can see it in the video when it puffs out a cloud of smoke from the exhaust. Guessing HG blew at the stripe because I noticed the tach went to zero while was on the brakes in the shutdown area. Limped it back to the trailer on three cylinders.

At The Track / Went to the track last night...oh so close..
Took the bird to the track last night. I made two changes to the car. One was I retarded the cam 2 degrees. The other was I installed my old meth system with the intent of filling it with E-85 to supplement my fuel system.
Well something is up with the meth system as it is not flowing nearly what it used to. I made three passes and the E-85 level never dropped in the tank and my AFR was still way too lean (12.5-12.9).
Good news is I think the car liked the cam timing change. Went 10.02@135 followed by a 10.04@134 and a 10.07@134. And that is with our horrible DA (5000+ft).
If I can get the meth system working right, I'm pretty confident a 9 sec pass would happen as I have a 2gph nozzle pre turbo and a 14gph nozzle pre throttle body. The pre turbo nozzle jumps the HP because it cools the air going into the turbo.
Next TnT is in October so I have some time to work out the bugs.

At The Track / Not a bad night at the track
Drug the bird to TnT tonight (or would it be last night because it's past midnight?, Lol)
First pass, something was up with the nitrous system. When I bumped the button to start the burnout it almost killed the engine. I went ahead and staged with no burnout and footbraked it the best I could before hitting the transbrake. I camped out with a 2 second reaction time and left with about 7-8 psi boost (usually launch around 20 psi). Bird went 10.79@126 with a lackluster 1.62 60'.
Got back to the pits and realized I had the nitrous and fuel lines reversed at the fogger. So instead of 35 jet/nitrous and 24 jet/fuel it was the other way around. Basically drowning it with fuel when I hit the button.
Second pass was much better with a 10.36@132 with a 1.54 60'. It spun a bit too much so I dropped the tires from 12 psi to 11.5 and added one degree of timing (17 to 18 degrees).
Third pass it went 10.19@133 with a 1.48 60'
Fourth pass I decided to put just a fuzz more boost in it. My EBC uses duty cycle to control the gate and it has been set at 78% ever since Tulsa. I raised it to 82% (probably less than 1 psi gain) and made my last pass. The bird was all over the place for several hundred feet but still ran 10.20@133 with a slip n sliding 1.51 60'. Guess I need to work on some more suspension tuning.
Funny thing was on the last pass I was up against a big block fox body stang. He ran 10.12@138 but I beat him to the stripe. His reaction was .247 and mine was the oh so sweet .000...perfect light! Only done that a few times in my life, lol!
It was pretty hot out. It was 97 degrees on my first run. DA was a little over 6000ft on the first run and was down to about 5800ft on the last run.
All in all a good night. Nothing broken or leaking.
I will post up some vids later. The last run was a white knuckle ride and you definitely see it in the vid.

At The Track / Some 1/8th mile action
Copied and pasted from TF:

Went to the 1/8th mile track for some test hits with the new turbo and tires.
First run was a no nitrous pass with 28psi boost and 13psi in the tires. Went 6.99@100 1.63 60'. As you can see in the vid, car didn't hook very well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2cE-fxvFfI

The rest of the runs were with the 50 shot. Second run, dropped tire pressure to 12psi and raised boost to 29psi. It was a decent run at 6.69@105 1.58 60'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTVxl3FyKXs

Third run, dropped the tires to 11psi and raised boost to 30psi. New best pass with a 6.56@107 1.53 60'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwx6Y-E8LDA

Fourth run, dropped tires to 10.5psi and raised boost to 31psi. Car went too lean down track and I lifted before the stripe. Went 6.59@97 1.54 60'.

Duty cycle on the injectors was reading over 100% on the last run and it puked some oil out of the VC catch can. Today I pulled the pre and post filters off and the pre filter had a lot of debris in it. I would say at least a third of the filter was plugged up. I ordered another filter element this afternoon. I hope that was the problem because I was not believing I was out of injector with 160's, lol!

I guess the video camera was having trouble focusing on the time on the 10.37.

Not a bad evening. On the 10.37, I was running against a turbo V-8 Cobra. He didn't know what to think about the ole 4 banger running with him.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Header panel repair
Is it economically feasible to fix a broken 88TC header panel? As in it has about a foot long crack in it. I bought one and the oafs at Fedex  near broke it in half. Can you just 'glass' it or does it require some special procedure?

Suspension/Steering / Cutting springs...Bad idea or...?
I would like to drop the the dd TC about 1-1 1/2". I have a complete spare set of TC springs in the garage and wondered if cutting one coil off each one would do the trick. I realize that cutting springs isn't the ideal solution but if it destroys the ride or other ill effects, I can just swap the stockers back in. Terrible idea or not?:flame:

Lounge / 12 second TC in MM&FF
Am I the first to get the latest issue or what? There's a blue TC in a bird/cougar shootout. The other players are MN12's though. The TC ran a best of 12.31 @109 with a ported iron head and I think a SC50 turbo:D

Drivetrain Tech / Best 5 speed shifter
As title says. I am going to buy a short throw for the TC. I saw the thread about the pro 5.0 shifter. I have my eye on the steeda tri ax. Any opinions-experience out there?

Lounge / New look for my TC
Ok, heres the deal. A friend of mine does custom graphics and complete car "wraps" for a living. Well, we were sitting around b.s.ing saturday and he asked if I would be interested in doing my TC for a big discount on the price. Normally he charges around 1500 to 2000 for a complete wrap depending on how big the car is. The only limit to the design is your imagination. He said all he wanted was his logo on the c pillar in exchange for the discount. He says all I have to pay for is materials and setup fee which is about 800 bucks. Well we whipped up a design for the bird and I want some opinions of it before I drop the cash for this.......

p.s. the top is going to be an aircraft look with rivets.
