Body/Appearance/Interior / 86 T-Bird window run weatherstrip
Quote from: Fordracer08;433012
I recently made a trip to a local salvage yard and found an 86 Tempo 2dr and pulled the window runs seal. Only one was useable so I grabbed it. It worked out great also. It fit the channel perfect. You do have to do some tpuppies as the seal is longer than needed for a Bird with the vent window. I do not know if this seal would fit a Bird without the vent window.

As I recall, the window channel weatherstripping from a Tempo/Topaz will only fit the Thunderbird/Cougar with vent windows (after tpuppies, as you noted). The pieces just aren't long enough to fit our doors with the full glass.

It's a great option if you have vent windows, though.

LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / when's the last time ya saw one of these
I once found a 4-door Lincoln Continental with the BMW inline-6 diesel option. It was in a junkyard and must have had a catastrophic turbo malfunction based on the appearance of the engine. That's the only one I've ever seen in person.

I once saw an eBay photo of a diesel Mark VII while it was farting out huge clouds of black smoke from the exhaust. It was hilarious. :fart:

Lounge / Possible new addition

I'm guessing the buttons he is referring to is on the right side of the cluster. Those are to navigate through the digital cluster.

Oops. My mistake on that one; I thought they were for the factory car phone option. I've had my MN12 for ten years now and it has served me very well, and I've driven it aggressively for all those years. Keep an eye on the rocker panels for rust, which has nothing to do with salt or driving in the winter. They rust from the inside out.

Lounge / Possible new addition
That is a well-optioned MN12 for sure. I spy factory-equipped car phone controls on the dash!

Lounge / I enjoyed my stay here !!!
I agree with the others; there is no reason to pull chocks due to one person's contentious way of communicating.

Lounge / My new Cougar Sig......
I dig the graphic design, but we have had issues in the past with signatures growing too large for the forums. This isn't regarding the load times so much, but rather the amount of space the users' signatures take.

Again, I like the way you designed it, especially with the transparency and font. We will have to see what the others think in terms of overall signature size. We tried to regulate it years ago for that reason. Scrolling through 80% signature and 20% content gets old fast.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Lowest option 83 i have ever seen......
Check out the passenger mirror delete. Was the side body molding a delete option, or is that the end result of a careless repaint?

I once found a Thunderbird in a salvage yard that didn't even have power locks, so the factory installed delete plugs where the door lock buttons would have been on the door panels.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Mercury Dealership
Out front: looks like an '83 LS with the TRX package and possibly the electroluminescent c-pillar emblems. I suppose dealerships would put the finest of the fleet out front for all to see.

Great photo.

Lounge / Fox Cougar and Thunderbird movie sightings... (Updated 2/23/15)
This has been discussed before, but somebody in the film industry owns a black '88 XR-7 and it has been in many films. It has black turbines and some kind of added trim/emblem on the rear decklid.

It's apparent that they sneak it into the set for their own reasons. There are some painfully obvious placements of it in certain films, such as Along Came Polly and School of Rock. As a matter of fact, that may be it in the above screenshot of The Thomas Crown Affair, as it certainly appears to be a black '88 XR-7.

I, for one, would like to know whose car it is and how many more films in which they plan to have it play another minor role.

Lounge / A lot has changed
Congratulations on the weight loss; that is an outstanding accomplishment. The coming challenge is keeping it off, so stay with it and maintain a proper diet. I lost 60 lbs in 2006 and I've kept it off since then, but it requires dedication, as I'm sure you know.

Welcome back.
