General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Re: The dash is out
Black Ice is very strong....the smell is nice in small doses but it might offend. If you've ever smelt Axe deodorant it'll remind you of that  :rollin:  but I also tried dryer sheets and other home remedies that have been passed around...I think it's the chemicals and strong odor that keep them away.

Makes you wonder what impact those air fresheners have on *our* health  :dunno:

The front coil springs are crushed into a horribly small circular range of motion with the control arm.

What I've found best is to get two thick metal plates, drill a hole through the middle, use the hole in the top of the spring bucket to clamp these together with a nut and bolt or threaded rod etc...hold the top of the spring to the bucket, then get a long bar, ideally a piece of square or circle tube stock and cut notches in it so that it will actually stay in place and "grab" a lower coil, then you can bend it right into place as you support the arm with a floor jack underneath. Suddenly it's the easiest job ever.

F most spring compressors for these cars.

The one thing that *seems* to work great (and you may not want to if your factory smell is still there and you worry about ruining it)....are the Black Ice scent Little Trees.

All I know is where I am there are plenty of field mice, across the street my buddy and his dad share the same two-stall detached garage. Dad's '65 Falcon had like 3 or 4 of 'em in it, no mice. Friend's '90 Vette, no trees, they went right in there.

I've experienced....most of this in the last couple of years.

My co-worker is about to buy Smittybuilt stainless steel hinges for $400 for his 2012 Jeep because the one door was almost frozen shut due to lack of use. I really don't know what's worse. These old pieces of shiznit or the new pieces of shiznit  :rollin:  :tard:  :tard:  :tard:

Watch out for waterpumps....maybe redundant but my daily 87 Grand Marquis snapped a brand new Gates water pump shaft when I stood on the limiter pissed off one night over who knows what. Steel fan so it took out the shroud, radiator...tranny lines....shaft was at least an 1/8" thinner than factory. Bought a GENERAL MOTORS AC DELCO water pump, that thing is beefy!!!! I have no worries.

How sad is that? God Bless you GM  :rollin:

Other Vehicles / Re: new kid limo
These seemed to be a lot better built than the 02-05. My grandfather had one with the V6.
He and my grandmother gave it to me when he stopped driving just a few short years later...

They are shockingly quiet on the highway, and smooth too. Watch your speedometer..........

LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / 88 V-6 NY State $500
I have an 88 cougar shell at this point, that has rust free front fenders (both at least a little dinged up though), good glass, good floors and PERFECT front frame rails.
At some point I plan to try and maybe cut it apart and keep these things around in case someday they can be used. I would give the thing to anyone on here but we're all so spread out :(

Exhaust / 2 1/2'' exhaust tubing over rear axle
I must buy the wrong shiznit too always seems like not enough room for my liking anyway. As you said, a finger or so. Never seems to have been an actual problem...but c'mon...too close for comfort.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Brought home an LX parts car today, or did I?

And then there is this wire that has been cut off at some point that is coming out of the bottom right harness / plug that is at the right rear of the intake manifold. The wiring diagram says is goes to the RIGHT EGO GND. Is this a ground that should probably attach to the firewall?

BOOM Get that  wire grounded!!!!!

I still have no idea why this is. I found it out the hard way after first doing my H.O. top end swap on the red car over 10 years ago.
That pissed me off then and still  me off a little bit. Why? WHY? It's for CLOSED GOD LOOP. And it's another harness.

Maybe it's for emissions reasons. So if the ECM thinks that the harness is missing altogether, it assumes that the car was desmogged haphazardly and will refuse to run? :rollin:
