Engine Tech / Re: Dyno'd the 331
I worked quite a few years at a shop here in Maryland that has both engine and chassis dyno. Both were Superflow and considered top tier when purchased in the late '90's. My Cougar at the time had a 375 CI windsor that had made a little over 500 HP on another shops' engine dyno. Installed it in my car and went to the track. Car usually would run 11.50's with the best being 11.30's. When we got the chassis dyno set up, I spent a weekend tuning and could only pull 350 and change at the rear wheel. I finally decided I was more interested in the A/F and 1/4 mile E.T. than trying to figure out which dyno numbers to believe. I used to joke that I must have been the baddest guy with 350 RWHP. At 3300Lbs, it ran ok and after 2 years I built the 408 currently in the car. Never had that engine on engine or chassis dyno, as I decided I didn't want to get caught up in the numbers. New combo ran 10.80's between 123-125 MPH. We had dynoed two other 408 Engines that we built at the same time, with diferent carbs and different headers-both cars produced between 380-400 RWHP. One had a Tremec and the other a C4 with a Gear Vendors. How well the car runs and 1/4 mile performance for those that like to go to the strip are the best numbers. Dynos vary alot from shop to shop.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Seat Covers
Any leads on aftermarket seat cover replacements? Mine is a 1988 LX, light gray and unfortunately they were in good shape, but now seem to be dryrotting? Driver side has torn, passenger side OK for now, back seat seems fine.

Electrical Tech / Re: Rebuilding ECM
I have found a company on Ebay called ECU Exchange. Good revues, claims a 48 hour turnaround on servicing your ECU. Basically $100. shipped to have your unit rebuilt. I am going to send this one out to be serviced for a spare. I will report back after I have gotten this one back.

Electrical Tech / Rebuilding ECM
Had an issue with my used Mass Air ECM, the Injector Driver Function went bad. After spending a couple days trying to find a vendor with A1 Cardone in stock, came to the conclusion everyone wants you to send yours in for refurbishing, instead of calling it a core. I did find another used unit, but want to send my bad unit to someone to get serviced as a spare. Does anyone have a reputable company, or do I need to just deal with A1 (out of Philly).  I will also be ready to off my original Speed density unit, as I can't see a reason to have it sitting on a shelf.

At The Track / No Prep Shutdown Showdown at wild horse pass
If you are from the area, I am speaking of Brian Leaf. He has his car down at the Baltimore show this weekend, on display with other cars in the Hurricane Racing Tour No Prep booth. Black Early Fox Body.

At The Track / No Prep Shutdown Showdown at wild horse pass
I have been helping a friend with an Early Fox Body Mustang at a local airport for a few No Prep Events. It's different, and his combo is a G-force Stick with a Windsor on Nitrous. We have done pretty well.

Engine Tech / Speed Density and Supercharging?
I have a good friend who is preparing to buy a 30k mile Lincoln LSC, completely original, spotless car next weekend. He wants to keep it stock but wants to add a supercharger. In my years everyone always does a Mass air Conversion or stand along, but rarely are these stock engines. He doesnt want to add to the harness, or do anything that isnt easily reversible. My conversion on the t bird for mass air went so smooth, and it idles and behaves so well, but I don't believe I can convince him. He bought one of these new in the late 80's, and after many years and many other projects, I convinced him to go look at this new project. Any thoughts?

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / T5 Swap-well worth it
I ended up buying a Stifflers trans crossmember and used an Energy Suspension Trans mount. Replacement motor mounts but looking at them I'm sure they will only take so much. I need to redo the upper radiator hose as it was close to the supercharger pulley and after a little "playing" it left some rub marks. This is a driver, but I started thinking of a torque limiter set up but with urethane bushings?

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / T5 Swap-well worth it
I want to thank the few here that recommended the T5 install. With the info found here and the Cool Cats forum, I rounded up enough parts and waited for a good friend to tackle the project.  Fun is the word. I am glad I didn't go too deep with the AOD.  I was starting to think it would take a bigger engine or a better supercharger/head combo to make it a keeper.  My friend runs a G-Force in his Race Car, and still liked how well this car drove. Faith restored. Now to gets some miles racked up before winter gets here.

Events & Shows / Philly, DC, Harrisburg, Baltimore, Allentown
I was new to this sight 3 years ago, and enjoyed all the tech info for the 1st 2 years. This last year alot of things were on the back burner for me, but T5 swap is being handled by a good friend of mine and should be mobile in the next few weeks. I would love to do Foxtoberfest in October, but am travelling for work. I thought something open to all Fox Bodies in the North East would be great.

Drivetrain Tech / AOD VS. T-5 Straight Scoop
Well ,I went and purchased a T5 and components this morning. $650. dollars got a T5 and bell, Tri Ax shifter, Steel flywheel, a Clutchmaster setup that looks new, pedals and quadrant and urethane mount. Will need to get hardware, a shifter boot, cable and review sensors and harnesses for Neutral safety switch, back up lights, etc. I don't think anything will happen before March, but a plan is in place.
