T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Un-molested 1988 Turbo Coupe - 72,000 Miles - $7,500
I bought this car to slap a T3 and a 5-speed in, but I just don't have the heart to do it.  The car is bone stock with the exception of the wheels, bluetooth headunit, exhaust tip, boost valve, and K&N air filter.  I purchased it from the original owner's son, and I have the original window sticker and all the service records and receipts all the way back to 1988.  The original owner really took care of this car.  For more pictures or information, feel free to text me at 419-236-2892.  Located near Lima, Ohio.

User Rides / tc² Goes Full Circle Photo Dump
If you were active here about 10 years ago, you might remember my first two cars:

Since then, I've been fortunate enough to own some great vehicles.  A '96 Cobra and a '99 Z28:

A 2000 S4:

A few bikes, including this '07 ZX-10R:

And recently I've been driving around in circles:

And driving to the track in my new tow rig:

With a few other boring daily drivers sprinkled in.

I'm sure a significant part of it is a result of the Turbo Coupe being my first car, but ever since I sold my 2nd one I've wanted another.  There's just something about these cars that I fell in love with.  I've been poking around craigslist and eBay for 5 years looking for the right one in all corners of the continental United States.  Last Saturday, I found this one, 5 miles from my house:

I bought this 68,000 mile car from the original owner for an absurd (ly low) price.  It's not perfect but it's very, very close.

I don't have a lot of big plans for this car.  I'm going to put a 5-speed in it, put some wheels on it, and DRIVE it.  A lot.

The void in my soul is full, and I'm proud to be back on FTCF!

Drivetrain Tech / Question about a T-5 I found
I recently bought an A4LD Turbo Coupe and went to the junkyard to get a few odds and ends.  I asked the owner if he had any T-5s laying around, and the only thing he had came out of a 1986 2.3 Ranger.  I think it's a Mitsubishi unit.  The identification plate said E67A-7003-BC.  Would this be compatible with our cars at all?  For what its worth, the car will be a daily driver running 16lbs of boost with the IHI.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / Wtb '87/'88 t-5 tc
Just as the title states.  These are getting absurdly hard to find in decent shape.  If you have one OR know of one please pass it along.  My first two cars were Turbo Coupes and I spent a lot of time here from 2005-2008.  I'm in Ohio but distance is not a factor.

Thanks!

User Rides / Warning: NOT A FOX.
Even though I sold my TC in January and bought this SN95 3 days later, I still lurk on this site everyday.  I enjoy it much more than any SN95 forums I've come across.  We really do have something awesome here.  Just thought I'd check in with some things I've been doing to the Cobra to gear up for the local show.  Here's some before pictures:

'96 Cobra, any suggestions?

The only thing I can come up with so far is "LS1 LOL" or "YUM LS1".
I seem to be stuck on that track lmao...

User Rides / '96 Cobra
So for the past 6 months, I've put the TC on hold.  I wanted something newer, something more reliable.  I was aiming at more of a gas saver, but something sporty.  While I was driving that, I would be able to save plenty of money and also not be tempted to pour any into my DD.  But boy did my plans change.  I sold my car on Thursday.  I searched AutoTrader that night (for what reason, I couldn't tell you) for a '94-'98 Mustang, V8, Manual, within 100 miles.  There was one result.  It is pictured below.  The past three days have felt like such a dream.  But you don't want to hear about that.  You want to hear the facts.

1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra.
4.6L V8, 305hp, 300ft/lbs torque.
T-45 Transmission.
0-60 in 5.6.
1/4 Mile 13.7-14.0
91,000 Miles.
"Laser Red" although it's more of a peach color at this point...
Black Leather.
One of 926 made in that combination.
Mach 460 Stereo.
Super Bad-Ass.

Supposedly I am the 3rd owner, although I'll be running a Carfax soon to verify.  It was at a dealer in Cincinatti, approximately 2 hours away.  I was able to talk him down to $5,000.  There are a few things that don't make it the perfect Cobra.  Most are due to sitting in one place for apparently quite some time.

1. The paint is quite faded.  The door jams make the rest of the car look peach or pink.
2. The headlight lenses have some moisture inside.
3. There is a small dent on left front quarter.
4. The passenger side was keyed.
5. The water temp. guage is non-functional.
6. The CD player is non-functional.

Mechanically, the car is absolutely sound.  The thing that I love the most about the car is that it is completely stock, unmolested.  I even love the fact that the fender or scratch hasn't been fixed.  Not only did those things allow me to afford the car, they will allow me to fix it the correct way.  Outside, the car shows more wear than average for a '96, but not too bad at all.  The interior is fantastic.  The front seats have a few spiderwebs, but no tears, no cracks in the dash, nothing.  The rest of the interior looks brand new, minus the shift .

Here's a list of things I've done since it came home this afternoon.

1. Replaced fog light bulbs (burnt out)
2. Installed and wired underdash water temp. guage
3. Temporarily resolved CD player issue
4. Detailed engine and exterior.
5. Removed Pony from grille.
6. Found out it is 3x worse than a TC in the snow (but I drove it all day, anyways).

For the time being, I'm planning on opening up the exhaust (a LOT)  and fabbing up a CAI.  After that, I'll be saving up for something that starts with K and ends with enne Bell.

Enjoy!

Lounge / For the first time in 3.5 years...
I don't own a Turbo Coupe!!

I feel like something's missing...  But hopefully that void is filled when I go look at a '96 Cobra on Saturday!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me out over the years, they've flown by.  I'm sure I'll be in a TC again eventually, and I'm sure I'll still be on this Forum plenty.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 17x8.5 Chrome 4-Lug Chrome Cobra R Replicas on BfGoodrich g-Force Tires
Located in Bluffton, Ohio.  The title says it all.  I had to use 3/8" wheel spacers on the front because of the shocks on my '86.  I suspect this is because of the aftermarket shocks on that car, as they fit fine without spacers on my '87 Turbo Coupe.

Spacers and Chrome Lugs will be included (as well as 4 chrome locking Lugs and key).

They are on BfGoodrich g-Force Sport Dry-Wet-Snow tires.  They look to have more than 50% tread left.  These puppies hook UP.  I couldn't light them up without using the brake (and my car had 290 ft/lbs of torque).

Shoot me an offer, and help me buy a '96 Cobra!

I have $1600 invested in this setup.  Receipts will be included.  Asking $800 OBO.  Would be willing to drive about 50 miles to meet you.  Would consider shipping but would dread seeing a quote...

Body/Appearance/Interior / Slight Coolant Problem...
So I recently installed a rebuilt turbo.  It has about 120 miles since then and it runs great.  I've only been at WOT maybe 4 times, only one at 17psi -- the others at about 12.  I noticed the other day that it was running warm, so I replaced the thermostat.  However I was worried because my windows were fogging up.  The thermostat seemed to help.  That was yesterday.  Today, it was getting warm again.  Then I noticed antifreeze dripping from the heater core into the passenger floorpan.  I knew that was a bad sign.  I took a right turn into my driveway and my foot got soaked in antifreeze -- it POURED into the floorpan.  There is now a puddle in the driver's side of the car.  I already ordered a new heater core and am dreading the thought of ripping this dash out which unfortunately I've had the pleasure of doing before.  I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before??

Thanks in advance.

Engine Tech / The turbo dilemma continues...
I can't find a single dealer that sells watercooled T3's.  Or any watercooled turbo for that matter.  Has anyone ever run an oilcooled only turbo?  Seems awful dangerous...

Let me know if you can any water/oil cooled turbos around or where you got yours.  Thanks...
