Door handle Spring?

Okay, so when I first bought my car the door locks worked fine. Now when I push the door lock button only the passenger door locks. I thought it was the solenoid but when I noticed my drivers side handle was feeling "loose" I took a look into it and noticed a spring rusted out and apparently broke. I can still get the door open its just that you kind of have to have a certain touch.

You almost have to pull up on the handle to get the door open, does anyone know how to replace the spring or should I just go the junkyard and tear into one there and see how it works?

Anyway I was wondering about this because I want to fix it before I put my door panel back on and I don't want to open it up again and break more of those  plastic push clips.

Door handle is pop-riveted in from the factory. Remove the door panel (make sure the window is up), then drill out the two rivets from the outside. Door handle comes right out. To replace, I recommend using carriage bolts, maybe a little Loc-Tite.

Thank you very much.

So the junkyard one should pop right in and then carriage bolts and Loc-Tite.

Yes.  FWIW 50Resto has door handles as well.  The 87-93 handles are a direct fit.  Here's the link.

Paul is right...however, be careful. The cheaper ones are reproductions that are (shock of shocks) not manufactured in this country. It's hard to tell how the chrome will hold up over time, plus the other components. The original Ford handles are way more expensive but are the only correct choice for restoration.

Essentially the OEM handles are made of potmetal, then chromed (and then black is applied for TC's and XR7's). For potmetal, which is also used in a lot of the emblems and other castings, they're not bad. I don't know what's used in the repros...could be potmetal, could be straight cast aluminum. I'd hope they're at least as good as the originals. If anyone buys these, please let me know about their installation, quality, etc., as I've only seen them in the package and not on a car yet.

Eric, I have right hander ready to go on (got it from a friend who has quite a few layin around).  It feels quite heavy so I'm guessin it aint aluminum.  The chrome is good quality as well.
