'84 5.0 Value?

Hey everybody,
I have a chance (???) to pick up a 2-Cougar package for pretty small $$, one a V6 '85 that won't keep its time but is a very clean looking low-mileage car, and the other an '84 V8 with a spun main bearing.  My question is, in mechanical terms, how serious is the spun bearing in the V8, and would rebuilding it cost any less than just picking up a decent HO already running?  And even when I rebuilt the '84 5.0, I would just have an '84 5.0, CFI and all.  I really don't know if I'll even get these 2 cars, but if I did, I wondered if it made sense to put any effort into the 5.0.  Thanks for the advice.

The spun bearing means you'll likely need a crank at the least. If it were an HO it might be worth it, but a non-HO, non-roller CFI engine wouldn't much be worth it. I'd pass on it.
