Title: Stock Radio Voltage out to power amp

I know with the stock premium sound in our cars the amp takes 12 volts from the head unit. 

I know on the later style head units there was a switch at some point in the mid 90s to where the power output to an amp was 5 volts.....


Anyone know when that exact switch was made and if any of the mid 90s JBL amps are 12v or 5v?

Someone anyone?  Iv'e heard anywhere from 92 to 95.....  Any definitive info, please lat me know.

I know this is super old but are you referring to the remote turn on led voltage from the head unit to the amp?  I know for sure that the 1994 and up Mustangs have 5V+ for the remote amp turn on.
