Paint or Powder Coat Sway Bars?

I have and Addco front sway bar on my T-Bird and want to have it recoated as it has some slight surface rust. With the twisting motion of a sway bar I am concerned about the kind of coating that one would apply to the sway bar so it does not crack. Any suggestions?

I slapped on POR 15. No issues with peeling.

Powder coating would be fine as well. the small amount of twisting the sway bar does, it shouldn't crack it as powder coating, if done properly, will stand up to a good beating.

Nahh it wont crack. My brother races motocross andhe has a Honda 450R and we had the hubs and rims powder coated and hes had them for a year now and havin a ton of hard hard landings and no problems with it and they still shine like new :D

Paint is cheaper and works great.

Paint also chips easy (especially where since the sway bar is near the ground) and the paint comes off if you have a leak somewhere. I dont know what the prices for PC are near the OP but we got them wheels and hubs done for $80 so i'd just spend the extra bit and PC it.

I have a friend who owns powder coating equipment as part of his business so that is not a problem. I usually just drop it off and tell him to coat it when they are running parts through that are going to be colored black. Not free but they do not charge me a lot if I can wait until they can work it in.

Thanks for the replies and I am just going to have it powder coated. My biggest concern was the twisting motion but it sounds like that I don't need to worry about it.

my eibach sway bars on my tahoe are red powder coated only problem is they faded

You might be able to polish them. I know the black part on my bros rims are a lil dull from the mud but they get them shiny (when my dad washes it lol).
