Marchal fog lamps on 87 to 88 non TC

So one of the things I miss from my Mark VII LSC is the Marchal fog lamps. I'm toying with the idea of adding them to my Thunderbird as a kind of period correct modification. I know I'd have to fab up some kind of mounting bracket for it to work. I also do not want to cut any holes in the bumper cover, especially since the car was just painted this year. Is this even feasible or is it going to look like ass?

How would you mount them without cutting holes in the bumper cover? Make a long bracket back to the core support? That probably wouldn't be very stable... Maybe you have a better idea?

I remember back in the early 90s I put a set of aftermarket fog lamps on my 84. They hung down so far on the non-tc bumper (since they aren't recessed in), I smashed them off coming down a steep driveway.

Which car?
With a 4 eyed, car, remove those bumper lights and replace them with rectangle fog lights.

I would love to do so also.  With the aero front end, I cant seem to make it flow right.

88 Thunderbird LX. My only fox Thunderbird ;)

I'm going to try and get my hands on a set of Mark VII fog light brackets. I want to see if I can mount them to the bumper through the "bottom feeder" openings in the non-TC front bumper cover.

Then what would you do for turn signals?

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Hmmmmm.....turn the outer front reflectors into signal lights? Not sure. I also would go with aftermarket fog lights. Cheaper than stock, and brighter.

I've always wanted to see someone use the slimmer Marchals like those used on 1988.5-90 Escort GTs. Those might work on the underside of the front bumper.

Can't you use a TC bumper cover with the standard grille? Even if you're not hot on the TC bumper's styling it's gotta look better than hanging a pair of foglights in front of or underneath the non-TC bumper.

Slim fog lights can be installed in the non-TC lower holes - I did it with my '87 Sport. Don't know how Marschals would look (or fit) there though

I have NO idea what year car he is working on. A TC bumper cover will fit with the grill and base header panel on an 87/88.  Before I installed the TC front end parts, I did the fog lights like Thunder Chicken did. Now I use after market fog lights with the TC bumper cover, using TC light brackets.

I want to mount Marchal 750 fog lights (the ones used on early Fox Mustangs and all Lincoln Mark VII LSCs) below the area where you mounted the slim fog lights.

The idea seemed like it would work using the air slots in the bumper below that area, but that was when I was looking at it after having a couple of beers. I'd probably have to design some kind of crazy bracket to get them to mount to the bumper behind the cover. I'm going to wait till a Lincoln Mark VII LSC shows up at a local junkyard and grab the fog light brackets. It would at least give me a starting point.

I know I could go with a newer fog light but I want the Marchal 750s for a period correct vibe.

Have you considered the mount that was used in the 79-86 Mustangs?

I think the lights that are in a Turbo Coupe bumper or Mustang look great. I never liked them on the Mark VII because they just hang from the bottom and look like an after thought. In the other cars they had a place designed for them.

As we have talked about before, it has to be what YOU like. That's the whole point of it.
