Which drop in fuel pump?

Well my fuel pump has started to whine really bad, so I guess I’ll go ahead and drop the tank and replace it next weekend.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good drop in fuel pump?

I remember some discussions a while back about the high flow mustang fuel pumps.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Walbro and BBK pumps seem to be the ones of choice. Either will be great for your car. (BTW, I am running a BBK 190lph pump in the convertible with excellent results).

Eric,

Would you happen to recall where you ordered your pump?

I can only find the 155 (BBK-1527), and 255 lph (BBK-1622) pumps at Summit, no 190lph.

I have a Walbro in my car.  It seems to work good.  I have heard that Walbro makes most of the aftermarket pumps and they are rebadged under different names.
One thing on the installation - our original pumps are wider, and sit differently then the Mustang pump.  Therefore, don't expect it to fit perfect.  You may have to come up with a way to make it fit tight in the rubber boot.
I remember 1FASTCAT(I think that was his screen name)  had a problem with his pump.  I believe the sock did not fit right, and fell off,and when he ran low on gas it caused a lean condition and he did some engine damage.  So just make sure everything is mounted in there tight and the sock stays intact.

This was back in '97. It was at Summit. You can use a 155 or 255...either one will be fine with an SO motor, and even an HO really.

Here is where I got my 190 lph Walbro...

It appears their Tbird/Cougar/LSC kit now includes the rubber insulator to mount the pump. Three years ago I ordered just the pump, as the TCs already have the Walbro and correct insulator from the factory.
