Windshield Wipers

okay, since it started raining all the time, I started to notice that about 80% of the time when the wipers are on, when they're supposed to return to their horizontal near-parked positions, they may stop a few inches up. This morning the tips had to have been 6" up the window. Turning the switch up to the second notch would eventually get the wipers to lay down like they're supposed to after each wipe, but going back to the slower delayed setting (notch 1), they'd begin to rest high again. I don't THINK anything HERE  deals with the exact problem but I may be wrong. What's wearing out and should it/can it be replaced new or is it a trip to the junkyard?

It seems to go down better when the window is slick, but not "clean" clean. I may have to invest in some more rainx.

What you fouund on coolcats probably is your problem. I have experienced this in the past and cleaning the contacts is always the fix.

Your wipers aren't supposed to return to the full park position when the switch is on or in delay mode. They are only supposed to return when you turn them completely off. If, when you turn the switch off, the wipers park there's nothing wrong with them.

I know they aren't supposed to return all the way to park, but I know they aren't supposed to stop halfway up the windshield

Also, any recommendations for my next wiper blades? It doesn't matter as much as things such as tires, but there sure are differences in both longevity and noise (especially on these cars)

I usually use a good winter blade all year long. Blades aren't good for more than a year, two if you're very lucky or keep the car in a garage.

It does sound like the wiper motor park fix is in order. But if that doesn't help you may need a new wiper motor governor. Are you having any delay problems at all?

Delay works fine

when they go down further fine other times? About 2" above park compared to what its at now

looks good to me,, and when they go to full rest,, they aught to be darn near the out of sight.,, if they are not, remove the arm and move them.

do they bump into the upright on the driver side when you have the wiper set on full speed? if so,, move the arms ccw looking at the wiper from the outside of the car.

today I found that if I leave the wipers running, without touching the switch, they eventually go down enough where they "bounce"(for lack of a better term) off the rest position and move back up an inch or so - after each wipe. If I adjust the wipers at ALL, they return to the high position again after a wipe, later going back to the "bounce". Obviously its not the motor as it seems to only rest high after either turning the  or moving the switch to a different position.

Well at least I know to leave them alone if I want them functioning more properly =P

It hits the side black trim now...and extremely chattery, even with new blades. Getting kinda annoying. Is there any way to adjust how much pressure the arms are putting on the windshield?
