Electrical Tech / Parasitic Battery Drain
Thanks very much for your help, appreciated all around

It was the alternator and I also switched out the battery for good measure. Alternator has never been replaced before
The battery was over 6 years old and was always removed over winter and stored indoors.

The never ending money pit but I love driving this mofookieX

Electrical Tech / Parasitic Battery Drain
Hi Everyone,

88 5.0 V8 Thunderbird

I have a parasitic battery drain that I am having issues with. I tested the battery drain with a Multimeter set to 10A and its drawing a 3.7 from somewhere. I tried unplugging each fuse one by one to try to isolate the issue. No change, so thinking that I possibly missed one, I decided to remove ALL of the fuses and the relays and flasher. Still the same reading I get.

The car was working fine a few days ago, no issues, no changes in parts. It just started draining overnight. I charged the battery to Full several times and leave the neg cable off now when I park. WTF :flip: ? I am asking here before I consider taking it in to a garage.

Any ideas on what to try next? Could it be the Alternator? Ignition Switch? Could it be the battery even if it less than five years old and only summer used?

Engine Tech / I really, really thought I had it fixed. Need Help Please!!!
It could be very well that your gas tank needs to be replaced and or the fuel lines.
This was the cause of my problem similar to yours after I had my Bird in storage for a number of years.
After I replaced the lines and tank it was not an issue anymore.
Also use the highest performance gas you can afford to put in the tank. Your engine will thank you for it.
My Bird used to idle like a rocket ship ready for take off after I use high test gasoline it purrs like a kitten

Misc Tech / Fire Extinguishers in our cars
I keep a big one in the trunk with a first aid kit and a baseball bat just in case.
I used the bat once to smash out a rear window when a car rolled in the ditch in front of me many years back

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / Seat bolts....
Can you not just get bolts at the Ford Dealer ? I need one as well and am thinking they would have them, try them in your area
The ford dealer had all my signal lamps and I mean the old style ones - I bought them all - 8 of them they had left
you'd be surprised what the dealers can find
they had 1 license plate front holder that I got shipped from Montreal it was 80$ but worth it since all the others I could find were all cracked

Engine Tech / Oil Changes
Hello there...

I'm sure this has been discussed before - forgive me if so but ...

I want to know what other owners of these classic T-birds and Cougars do

How do you do your oil changes ? How often ? Do you go by duration or mileage? What grade of Oil do you use ?

Body/Appearance/Interior / blued headlight
Yes please explain this method that you did to your lights looks great.
I also notice cars with blue headlights when I am on the road at night it looks like blue light instead of white light -
I have tried to find these blue headlamps - bought a 60$ pair and they still look white to me.
