I'm going with vintage  gold and blue plates myself. And my 87 will have the statue of liberty plates.... ever think about that as an option?

1) I think Statue of Liberty plates would be very cool.
2) You can have eight letters on your plates, not just seven?
3) I vote for "83 BIRD" or "83 TBIRD". That covers the two most commonly asked questions, "What is it" and "What year is it?"
4) Does this mean you are going to get serious about the bird now? (Feeling a void left by the sale of the Torino?)

1. Agreed, but i cant get a custom plate in the "correct" style
2.Yes, NY has 8 characters in its plates
3.I like those also
4.YES YES YES Filling the void to a degree, but as much as i loved the Vert, this car has much more emotional meaning to me as it was my first car, and i have a ton of memories wrapped up in it.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I'd go with having bird on it instead of ford also.
