Evidently the thread I listed did not make it in the migration to the new board.

Found the part numbers for the Mustangs again.  Based this off of a 93 Ford Mustang 5.0

Automatic Trans  - E6SZ-9A758-A
Manual Trans - E6ZZ-9A758-A

Why is there a different part number for the manual vs. automatic cable? They should be the same part, at least on the throttle body end. The two cables should also be the same length. Is the attachment at the throttle pedal in the car different between the two?

Possibly a stiffer return spring due to the kick down cable? Never had to mess with an auto car but I do know that every auto to manual conversion I’ve helped with we have not changed the throttle cable.  Never went the other way (manual to auto) so no experience there.

Just to link stuff up for those that are searching this.  I built a new throttle cable for my '93 Coupe and how to do it is here:

Hey just FYI, LMR is selling new cables:
https://lmr.com/item/LRS-9758A/1986-93-Mustang-50L-Manual-Transmission-Throttle-Cable

I put one of these in the convertible this past spring, seems to be just fine. It was identical to the stock cable I took out. I had terrible cable stretch with the factory one, and this solved the issue completely.

From what I know, aftermarket throttle cables have been few and far between, and I heard it took a few attempts to get this one right. So far, so good.

Did you pull the intake tube and make sure you are getting 100% TB blade opening?  Thanks Eric.

Yes, verified. Actually my original cable, stretched as it was, still opened the blade correctly. It just took a lot of pedal pressure to do so. With this new LMR cable there is much better throttle response. I'm pretty happy with it.

Is this the cure for a "binding" pedal?  Seems I have to mash the pedal pretty hard on first starting, before putting in gear, to "break" it loose.  It's fine after that, until it sits a good while again.

Just an FYI about wide open throttle. Several years ago, I replaced the original floor mats with some custom embroidered mats.
Some time later, I had the car being Dyno tuned and the tuner couldn’t achieve wide open throttle, it was the floor mat preventing the pedal from fully reaching the floor. He yanked the mat out of the car, problem solved. I still had the original floor mats and overlaid it onto the new mats and the new driver’s side mat did not have a provision to properly allow the pedal to fully travel to the floor. I marked the new mat, removed the binding along the edge and cut it to the contour of the factory mat. I then took the new mat to a cobbler shop and had him restitch the edge binding.
Problem that was not very evident at first.
