351c Swap-pics Of Parts To Do It

for the record, the C is NOT a big block... the head fit on a W block, they have a SB bellhousing pattern, they have small main journals... the only thing that they share with big blocks is the overall size of the heads, ports, and valve sizes...  There is one block that does skew the defining line... and that's the "400 FMX", it has all the outside sizes of the 400/351M but has a small block bellhousing pattern on it... not many were made but I ended up with one...

No. They marketed it as a small block with big block heads.
As methos said they have the same bellhousing pattern as a 302 the same mounts and location as a 302. Smaller main journals, deck height than a 351w.

That is correct. A 351m,400m have the big block bell housing and motor mount locations. A 351c is easy to swap except the expensive headers and oil pan to do it. I've even been thinking of a AOD instead of c-6,lowering gears to 4.10. Im sure my car would be faster and have overdrive. But a cheap AOD wont cut it. They are weak even to a 5.0,and need proper mods to make them live.

Ya that scoop is off of my 1974 Comet Gt 302/3spd/floorshift. It has been on my 71 Cougar, and now on my bird. I like the way it turned out on there. Was going cowl but everybody has one of them.

Keep on with your Cleveland swap! I'd like to see some pics when you get it in the engine bay and compare how much room you have compared to a 460 swap. __ Alan

Its the same. I measured the 70 460 I sold last year and If I remember right they were both like 27inches and a half or something like that. Money to Power wise I should have done the 460,but the guy helping me build my engine says that 460+hp is about what I be at with Srp pistons, balance,cc the pistons,3 angle valve job, roller valvetrain, ect few old racer tricks. Should haul ass?

If you can get 460 HP out of your Cleveland  then you most certainly will be in the "Kick Ass" territory!!
The great advantage on the Cleveland over the 429-460 is your bird will be about 175-200 lbs. less heavy on the nose of the car. That will certainly help on the launch.
Our big problem we have with the 730 pound 460s we run is weight transfer. So I spend more time setting up the rear suspension and use Moroso "trick' front coil springs for a Fox Body.
