Body/Appearance/Interior / One door won't unlock.
The passenger side door won't unlock with the power door lock switch. I can unlock it with the key, and by pulling the handle. It'll lock with the power lock when it's unlocked though..

Bad actuator?

Lounge / Any heard from MassCougarXr7?
I was wondering if anyone has heard from Walt at all. We had a deal lined up for some stuff, but he hasn't been on the forum. I didn't know if anyone might have his email or phone number. I had his cell number a while back, but I lost my phone, and his number.

I'm sure he still wants the stuff, but he may just not be able to access the forum.

Engine Tech / Yellow viscous fluid in oil fill tube?
Engine is a 5.0 out of 87 t-bird. I checked my oil tonight after screwing around with the EGR system only to find this:
I vaguely remember someone else having this problem but I don't know the outcome. I searched, but I have no idea what this would be under.

But this doesn't look good. It goes from the plenum into that tube running to the oil fill neck, and stops there. Um...

Engine Tech / 4.6l 1997 Thunderbird help
Alright guys, I know it's not a fox, but a buddy of mine needs some help. He was trying to sell the car, but now he might have to use it. He needs a net catalytic converter because the plastic intake on the car broke a while back and it was dumping coolant into the right bank and I guess it destroyed the catalytic converter so he is getting a check engine light from the o2 sensor.

He told me he was reading somewhere that there are other o2 sensors with a wider band that might stop the code from appearing. Anyone know what this is from? Any of you guys ever do this?

A new y pipe with the cats is like $450 so he's hoping to "temporarily fix" the problem for a little while until he can get the money to do it.

I thought some of you guys might know.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Anyone with Sequential Lights
Who made the sequential light units we all bought a few years ago? Thundercats electrical or something like that?

I installed mine today and I've been having some problems with it. At first I had a bad ground, and now I have two problems. The lights sometimes sequence, sometimes not. When they do sequence, after 3 or 4 times they all blink together for a couple of times and then start sequencing again.

And the universal bulb I came with seems to be a little iffy. If I wiggle it, I can see the unit start to sequence again, so I think I need another one of them, but I can't find one. The local parts stores run the number on the package, but they don't have any in stock; and don't carry them.

Okay, I took the universal socket apart, it was a little loose, thats fixed. I took a video of what the car is doing. The drivers side works better than the passenger side. The passenger side seems to blink all together more than sequence. And the factory flasher seems to work better than the electronic one provided in the kit.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Fog Light Switch Lightbulb
Anyone know how to replace the stock Hella Fog Light switch light in the dash? The little connector/plug thing has two little wires in it, and no size bulb seems to fit into it. Originally I thought maybe it was like the plugs on the back of the instrument cluster, but that turned out to not true. I then thought maybe it's a plug unit light in one, but I can't seem to find those anywhere.

So long story short, how in the hell does someone replace the fog light switch lightbulb.

This is the best picture I could get. There wasn't a light in mine, so I really don't have much else to go on.

Electrical Tech / I thought I blew a fuse, but it doesn't appear to be that easy
I got into my car tonight, and I noticed part of my radio didn't like up. It's only the part that displays the station. It still works as if I shine a flashlight at it, it is visible. Now I also noticed my left turn signal does not light up on the dash, but they work on the outside of the car.

I checked all the fuses pertaining to the radio, cluster, and signals, and swapped a flasher to no avail. Suggestions?

Drivetrain Tech / AOD Transmission Idea
Well driving around in the snow/sleet/rain combination in New England these past couple days made me wish I had a couple things. Traction Control might help, ABS brakes would help too, but a Transmission that holds a gear to engine brake would be even nicer.

Now a stock AOD on the gear selector has OD, D, and 1. Can anything be adjusted to make D hold second gear, or for 1 to hold second gear? Like going down hills and stuff in 1st isn't really an option. I was just curious if this was possible with some sort of easy adjustment.

Engine Tech / Water Pump Noise
So once and a while my water pump makes a noise, not really a grinding noise but sort of like a "whine". Now it's 99% of the time when the engine is stone cold. Yesterday in the snowstorm home, it made it on and off a couple of times while accelerating close to the shift points of the AOD. Today on the way to work, I did not hear it at all. Does this mean the pump is on the way out and I should replace it, or is this normal? I know my power steering pump whines in a similar sound, but that is "what Ford power steering pumps do".  I sprayed some penetrating oil at the pulley/water pump and the noise changed/went away, so I know it's the pump.

Pump works fine, I checked it for leaks last night and I took the belt off, there does not appear to be any play in the shaft. Just curious, I would rather not replace it at the moment in a snow storm, should I not have to.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Cup Holder Installtion Help
So I recently bought one of these cup holders:

And I went to install it into the car, but it will not fit anywhere. Pictures in my car:

and

Now I know in the thread where I bought it:
http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?28719-xxxx&highlight=

Now of course it's getting dark out, but it does not appear that the heater controls I have are going to fit in the top slot. I tried to get a picture of it, but it didn't work all that great. Can any confirm that it will actually fit in the small small opening underneath the HVAC duct? Or do I have to convert it over to the rotary style in order to be able to do this?

Engine Tech / 5.0 Thermostat Housing with Extra Hole
As many of you know I've been chasing a problem with my temperature gauge in the car. I'm looking to install and aftermarket gauge semi-permanently to do some comparisons, but I don't have a place on the intake to install the sending unit for the gauge.

My only thought was to find a thermostat housing that has a pre drilled and tapped hole in it where I could put the sender. I called 2 parts stores today, and they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Does anyone know where I can get one? I don't want an expensive billet aluminum or anything, looks don't matter too much, just need the extra hole. Anyone know?

Misc Tech / Air "hissing" noise when applying brakes.
I left work really late last night, and while driving home as one of the only couple of cars on the road I noticed when I apply my brakes, I can hear a very faint hissing noise under or in my dash someplace. I moved my hand around down there and didn't feel any air. The engine doesn't stumble or cut out of anything, but the hissing does increase the harder I step on the brake.

I never noticed it before, but I was curious if this is normal. It may be, the brakes work fine, I don't notice anything different about them. Do you guys have this too? What should I check?

There was a thread a year or more ago about a similar problem, I remember the guy had a column shift car and he could hear a wind leak or a hissing or something from under his dash, but I can't find the thread. I think he figured it out. Can't find it, maybe it was deleted.

Electrical Tech / Headlight Adjustment
Does anyone know how to adjust the headlights on an 87-88 Thunderbird/Cougar? I'm going to try adjusting them again. I've polished the  out of them, repainted the inside reflective material, and they looked pretty good. But in all honestly if I turn my turn signal on, the one on the corners of the header panel shine further than my headlights. I kid you not. Now I don't have a alignment board, and I've asked two shops in town, and they don't either. So I'm not sure I can get them perfect, but at this pint anything would be an improvement.

I searched, but after twenty minutes, I figured It'd just ask. I couldn't
