Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / '90 Ford Ranger Turbo....
hey guys, I am selling this one of a kind custom Ford Ranger as the financial crisis hashiznit home with me also. I own to many vehicles and it has started to be a burden on me. My loss is your gain. This truck was started a few years ago, and has now finally been finished. It started life as a basic '90 Ranger long bed that delivered aluminum siding to job sites, but has now turned to hauling something of a different nature.......the Heart and Soul of this Beast is an transplanted 2.3l '86 Mustang SVO engine. It was completely rebuilt to spec about a year and a half, maybe two years ago, along with a new Garrett turbocharger. This was installed in place of the original 2.3 engine and then topped off with an early 4 cyl intake manifold and a Holley 650 carbeurator, which was specifically rebuilt for turbo boost by Williams Bros. of Atlanta, Ga. It also sports an Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a Gillis adjustable turbo boost valve, electronic ignition, Volvo front mount intercooler and Esslinger adjustable cam sprocket. A custom exhaust was built that exits on the right side in front of the rear tire. The transmission has a new clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing set along with a rebuilt top shifter plate for smooth shifts. The drivetrain has less than 2000 miles on it.
The interior has new, with just installed new carpet, with a 60/40 split bench/bucket seats with a fold down armrest. It has a full complement of guages with tach, temp, oil, volts, and Boost. it also has the provision to add another guage beside the boost guage if needed. Also had the odometer mileage returned to zero as it was starting its "new" life......but was at 76,460 when it was done. I also added a electric fan with a manual on/off switch in the cab in using a factory location and switch, and also added Ranger GT factory fog lamps, wired and switched in a factory location, along with a new shifter .
On the exterior, it has been painted HotRod black with a satin primer finish. Silver and Red accent stripes have been added. It has a COMPLETE new set of Headlights, parking lights and tail lamps. Along with a NEW Ford grille, chrome front bumper and chrome headlight doors. Black shortie anntena, Chrome vent visor shades on the windows, mew wheel lip mldgs and chrome tailgate guard. It also has new take off 2007 17" Mustang GT wheels with P235/55/R17 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. These barely have the nibs wore off of them. The truck also sports a Ford factory over the rail bedliner in it to keep the bed protected and a new Explorer Limited front valance for the fog lamps.
Overall, this truck starts and runs good. Gets great gas mileage and has power if needed. Fun to cruise in, and really surprises the ones who do not know.....it drives straight and is an original Florida truck. It has a clean CARFAX. When i got the truck is was only started, as i am not the original owner. the only thing finished was the paint and base engine. I have spent many days and nights and much money into this truck, making sure it is right. the only thing i know it really needs is to be professionally tuned for max power/drivability. i would love to keep it, but the reality of life prevents that. Feel free to contact me and ask any questions as i will answer them HONESTLY! or come by and look it over in person. $3500, firm. The truck is at my work, located in Bremen, Ga. my number is 256-223-9809. The best time to talk is from 5 to 9pm central time, but if you leave a message i will get back with you asap. thanks.

Engine Tech / head gasket or intake gasket....turbo?
-ok engine guys.....my "new" '83 TC i just purchased has got a problem...so it seems.....when u first start it up, it emits a "white" smoke out of the tail pipe and it has a STRONG coolant smell to it.  now once the engine and exhaust warm, the smoke goes away, and most of the smell does, but it is still there....there is NO evidence of coolant in the oil.  the heater core has been by passed so it is not there to be a suspect and the turbo is practically new on it.  so do u think a head gasket is going, or could there be a bad lower intake gasket letting it come into the system and hence the smoke/smell??? any thoughts or opinions????  ideas????
thanks in advance.....

Body/Appearance/Interior / water leak.....
-it seems as a vehicle sits, the more they want to become a fish tank for some reason.  the money pit sits on a level, concrete slab of driveway next to my house.  last year it began a leak that came into the drivers floor board.  after tearing into everything under the dash, i find that the hood cable grommet is not seated in the hole good, thus letting in water everytime it rained. made for musty smelling carpet. drying out and a cleaning later, its fine. so all is well, right?  about 2 weeks ago, i go to pull out a part i had laying in back seat and i glance at the floor board and it looks wet. put my hand down on the carpet and its soaked. nice little fish pond.  so i check the front, its still dry.  i think maybe i havent shut the door good when it rains and its leaked in.  so i dry it out, and make sure the door is shut good.  it rains a couple of days later, and the floor is soaked again(its drivers rear). so now i look around more. seems the padding up under the back seat is wet.  so i pull out the bottom of the back seat and the recesses on the drivers side is floating in water!!!  so this is more serious.  i pull the carpet back and man does it smell rough.  must have been going on a while, i figure.  i remove the drivers seat, pull the carpet up some more.  its moldy rough.  so i take a blade and cut most of the left side out.  i dry up all the water and let it air a while.  hump reinforcement has rusted pretty well.  so it has rained again since and the water pools up where the seat bottom recess is on the drivers side before it spills over into the floorboard.  before i go tearing every piece of trim/seats/etc, out, does anyone have a clue where it could be coming from???  i figure its gotta be 1/4 glass or rear window.  just wondered if anyone has had it happen before??????  i hate water leaks.  my ranger does it too......

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / '88 TC auto...interest????
-ok i thought i'd post it here, just to see if there was any interest.  this is the car in my avatar, even though that picture is a little over a year old.  its not that i dont want to finish the car, but i really have a problem finding time to work on it.  not only do i work 8-6 everday, and every other sat., but i also have 3 kids in school, that has activities from football to gymnastics.  just in case someone has missed it, the car was originally owned since new by a legal secretary in Gadsden,AL.  she drove it until the year 2000.  she traded it in on a Lexus, because it had no power and was making a loud noise.  it was wholesaled to a used car lot, who found out the same and did not want to fix because of the cost.  they put it out on the back lot where i found it.  i bought it in august of 2001. it sat in the drive until 2004 when i started working on it.  found lack of power was from turbo shaft broken in 2 places.(no power) and while running, the ends of the shaft would bounce around causing the noise which resonated loudly on the inside of the car. so i took tires wheels off, put it on jack stands and proceeded to overhaul it.

there is prolly more, but thats the high lites.  car is solid, southern car.  has red leather interior, with sunroof(worked in 2004) and keyless entry.  i forget the mileage as i have not sat in it since i cant remember, but will get and post.  have been workin slowly, but as i said, ive got to where  i dont have time and its really in the way.  have a bunch of maintenace items that will go with it(belts hoses, new radiatior, etc)  is still exceptionally clean considering it hasnt been washed in 4 years.  and while yes it is apart somewhat, im not disorganized, as all things are able to be located. I have pretty much all receipts and have over $2000 in parts and items alone, plus the cost of the car.  i will take $1995 for it as it is.  anything i have for it, goes with it.  will not sell parts off of it.  all or nothing.  if no one interested here will try other avenues and continue to work on it when i can.  you can respond here, pm or call me on my cell 256-223-9809.  thanks....

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / The Truth About Motorcraft Products.....
-with all of the talk the last two days over who makes what product and which is the one to use, etc, etc.....I decided I would at least quell the rumors/hearsay over the Ford/Motocraft parts makers.  I personally called Mr. Doug Kraus, Motorcraft Product Marketing Mgr, for Ford Motor Co. , North America and asked him to tell me whom was the maker of Motorcraft plugs and to expand upon the design & engineering aspect of it and would he please put it in E-mail form so I could quote his actual response for everyone, so they would not think i  was just making it up.  so thanks to Mr. Kraus for his time and his response in answer to my questions:

"Henry,

Our suppliers produce and test our parts to Ford Motor Company vehicle
specifications.  Our spark plugs are manufactured to our engine &
engineering specs.  Honeywell is our supplier of spark plugs, they
produce Autolite and many others' spark plugs.  Honeywell is not
permitted to use Ford engineering specifications to produce Autolite or
any other company's spark plug line.

Using another example with one of the products I oversee, Johnson
Controls (JCI) is our supplier of Motorcraft batteries.  JCI also
produces the Sears Die Hard, Interstate, Delco, and many other batteries
for others.  Our batteries are superior to others in many ways, while
being produced by the same company... JCI.  The reason for our
exceptional OE quality is because they are manufactured to our vehicle
specifications.

Doug Kraus
Product Marketing Manager
Batteries / Filters / Plugs / Wipers"

I do believe this is as i had stated, that in no way does Ford let ANYONE use their specs for their products.  it just isnt going to happen.  he went on to talk about other things and issues as well, but i only used what i needed to show everyone.  but hopefully it will answer many questions that have been asked......;)

Lounge / Went to the j/y sat.......
-i actually went to get some things for a Ranger that i'm selling, but i had to scope out the fox cars while i was there also.  my favorite j/y to go too. cheep, fairly friendly if you call right out of DELIVERANCE friendly:hick: ...lol, but that IS how they look.

this was a well used crugar. front end gone. 3.8 auto on column, but just for EricCoolCats, it does have the half vinyl roof with the lighted cougar emblems on the pillars......

next was the '87-'88 bird.  sitting so far down the hill in the woods, it will  NEVER be crushed.  5.0 lx, digi dash.  had seen better days, but still alot of good parts on it.  lot of the inside was ripped out and the back seat bottom was folded in half! and used as a block up under the right side if you look hard enough, to hold up the car while the wheel assy was removed.....

this was a treat.  good body on this bird.  someone had kicked and busted the grille, but other than sitting it on the ground it was great.  3.8 auto on column, if you can see for the sunlight, the int. is perfect!!  heck no one had ever ripped the radio out yet.  the red velour seats looked great.  dash was good, and manual VENT windows.........and the "NO" on the window means "Do Not Crush" when the crusher comes down here.....

oh, and see the great shape "A" frame steering wheel with cruise!!!

this is a pic off a 85-86 crugar. the one of the car didnt make for some reason, but it was pretty complete, again with half vinyl roof, light pillar emblems, chrome pwr mirrors, chrome grille(in great shape) a 3.8 with auto on column.  these were on each front fender.  have no clue what it says but thought maybe someone might could interpet.....lol.....

down in the hole was this pair of bird & crugar.  bird 87-88 of course and crugar unsure. still hot enough (80* this day) for mr. no shoulders to be roaming about so if i couldnt get up to them easily, i didnt go...lol...both 3.8 cars, both picked on some, but still alot of good parts left.  including BOTH tailamp assys on the crugar!!!

tell me these dont look good.  maybe when it gets alittle colder here i'll come back for some stuff....

lastly, even though this aint a 'bird/cat...i couldnt pass up the shot of this "bubbleback" capri 5.0!!!  you will notice the complete set of original Ford Accessory window slats on the rear window. rare on a "bubbleback". engine was gone, but T-5 was sitting in the passenger floorboard for someone, already removed!!!!:flame:
thought i share these with everyone.  i picked up a Ranger valance, bumper stone shield, 2 headlight trim rings,  a aftermarket "shortie" antenna mast and painted grille assy for a '88.  ole guy wanted $35 for it all, i opened my bill fold, pulled out a $20 bill, said what do you want me to leave behind.  he grabbed the $20, said "i dont need the junk, see you next time."  i loaded it up and headed for the house.....:burnout: happy with my day...:D
