T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Low Mileage '87 Thunderbird T/C
-For Sale is my late Father's '87 Turbo Coupe. He purchased this new
back in the day from the now closed Prestridge Motor Co. (that is the original drive out tag from '87 also....)
Having ridden in the Turbo Coupe that paced the Atlanta 500 that year,
he liked the looks of the pace car, so he had the same style GFX installed on his. He seldom drove the car until he passed away in '93.
I got the car after that and have had it ever since. I've drove it maybe 200 miles to some shows since then.(25 yrs) The current mileage is
roughly what shows on my sig. (740) Car still has plastic on the seats, original paper floor mats, and assembly line stickers. These are not
current pictures, but the car rarely moves, as it is stored in my garage, under a cover. I will be glad to elaborate on any questions you may have or get you some specific pic you may like, but I will be out of town for the next couple of weeks.(till April 2nd) I will be able to talk, but
wont be near the car.
Car has original window sticker still in it, I have the original build sheet from the dealer that came with the car. Everything is
original to the car except the battery to crank it, but I have that also. The only problems I know of it has, is the active suspension light
stays on all the time. it will not go off. That is a symptom of the electric actuators, but I cant verify that is the problem. I drive it so little, I have not been concerned with it. The other is my wife opened her van door against the drivers door when we moved into our
current house in 1995.
You can see it in the pics, you may or may not be able to tell it, but wanted it known. It actually dont look as bad now, as it did in the pic.  I will try to do a better pic of it. Car has NEVER seen any kind of wet/inclement weather. Only comes out for shows, when I have time, or the yearly removal for garage cleaning. Stays stored and covered 99.99999999% of the time.

Anyways, price is $22k. You can see on the window sticker that this car was over $17k back in '87. A 5k increase in 31
years in not a bad price whatsoever, if you ask me. Easiest way to get in touch with me, with my work, is a text, or here . All questions will
be answered.  All welcome.  Phone # is 256-223-9809
Car is located in Alexandria, Al.

-will post pics shortly....

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / -'86 California Turbo Coupe
Posting this one again.  Up for sale is my 1986 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. This Car has traveled some distance in its years. This car is an Original California Car. It is also an abandoned vehicle.
The man who owned it in Ca., who was the original owner, stored it in one of those storage facilities and accordingly only drove it sparingly. It was last registered in 2007. It sat as they continued
to pay for the storage. Then in late 2011/early 2012 the payments stopped. And after no contact with the facility, the storage company sold off the cubicle, kinda the way you see on the
TV show, "Storage Wars" . The storage unit was purchased by a company called Cubesmart. They cleaned out the container, as the car was not the only thing in storage.

The car was removed, and ALLLLLLLL the required paperwork was filed and after everything was transferred as it should be, Cubesmart then auctioned the car on E-Bay.
It was purchased by a gentleman in Ms, who got it running again, but was overwhelmed by the expenses he had to pay along with the paper work to file to California to aquire the car.
I purchased it a over three years ago from him and have done some more things to it, but have decided to move on from it, as I no longer have the time to cover all of the cars I do have. Now lets talk about the car. I can give you more story information about the car, if you are interested in purchasing. The car only
has 74k miles on it. I dont know what person at the dealership did the ordering, but he must have been trying to save money. the car is a basic build, dealer lot car. The only options it has is Leather seats and Convenience Group, which is power windows, cornering lamps, intermittent wipers, lighted visors and power mirrors. It is clean, was well cared for, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross-country. It has your normal door dings and a couple extra, as it seems some shelves fell over against the car in storage.
It also has some spotting on the hood and trunk from something being spilled on it at some point. otherwise, it is typical Ford basecoat/clearcoat 80s paint.

Everything on it works, except the A/C, and the engine cooling fan. The wires have been cut since Ive owned it and have not looked into it, as the last '86 I owned, the fan was inop and I never had a problem as long as the car was moving. The car has newer brakes all the way around, with front pads, rear shoes, wheel cyl, and new brake hoses. It has a Walbro fuel pump. The rear axle has been serviced with axle bearings and sealed. The transmission has been serviced and sealed. Newer Spec clutch/belt/hoses/cap/wires/
plugs/filters/etc. A custom exhaust from the cat back, with a DynoMax ler and Stinger tailpipe. Gillis valve. Full set of CHE upper and lower rear control arms.

Four almost new tires not even 3 years old yet, and much more. About 3k worth of maintenance. There is no rust on this car anywhere, except below the ole back window trim as norm on these cars, but even thats not bad. Also included will be most of the parts receipts, some of the California title work/storage work papers, and the original Build Sheet, found under the back seat. Will be glad to answer any questions that I can answer. Will be posting pics as soon as I can upload them. Call or text me at 256-223-9809.

Update....
I am selling because my youngest son is now a driver, as of a year and a half ago. I can NOT afford to pay for his insurance and tag and the insurance and tag on this car also. It has not hardly moved since he began driving. I crank it often, but drive it seldom. (insurance and tag)  It sits in my oldest son's garage gathering dust(or pollen now) and I don't want it becoming a barn find. Price is $3995.
Thanks.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 1986 Thunderbird Turbo coupe....Automatic-----Al.
------UPDATE----UPDATE-----UPDATE-----UPDATE-----UPDATE----UPDATE----UPDATE----

I do have a job now, so  selling for thats a moot point. but my wife has started a little project in the yard, so I need some space and the money would help also. My Loss is your Gain....car is reliable!! still just need to swap the tires/wheels. all parts I have still go with car. I have drove it less than 100 miles since original post back in January. needs a good home. I just have no time for it and hate seeing just sit.
$2200.........worth every penny. I have half that much in the head/exhaust work i did last year on it. good daily driver........

-as I have listed this for sale in the past, I am relisting it again, as I have been let go at my job.  HAPPY NEW YEAR! good way to start the year, but with these cirspoogestances,  Not knowing how things will go, I need to sell......soon! This car was bought new at Willmore Ford in McMinnville, Tn. as the second car for the wife of the family. It remained that way until it was passed to the daughter in high school. she kept the car until 2009, when she traded it to me for a Ranger pick-up. It was all original when I got it, save the deck lid spoiler, and I have pretty much kept it that way.  it had 188k miles on it when I got it and it now has just north of 250k.  I replaced the heater core in 2011. the A/C was the only thing not working when I got it, and when I did the heater core, I removed the a/c lines and compressor for access and heater hose replacement. Those parts will go with the car. Compressor was not locked up.  it has a new starter and altenator.  Just this summer in august I replaced the head gasket, timing belt, water pump, power steering pump, radiator/heater hoses and had the front end rebuilt. And while the head was off, it was sent to the machine shop where it was surfaced, had new valve stem seals installed, all new lifters and ranger roller cam installed. once the car was running, it then went to the ler shop where it had a complte exhaust system put on from turbo to tailpipe. 2.25" complete, no convertor, with turbo ler.  I have EVERY receipt to show work performed. Trans shifts exceptional and fluid kept changed.  This car is a GREAT cruiser. look at the pics. it needs some attention to the outside, but it turns heads everywhere it goes, and brings onlookers and talkers at every gas stop. rides and drives good. on the inside, everything works, except as stated a/c.  Radio, cassette tape, clock, lumbar, seat motor, pwr windows, fogs, etc. all lamps work on outside. correct spare tire is in trunk.  The only thing this car needs to be a real looker is attention to the outside.  As pics show, the paint is thin and clearcoat is gone.  correct color is Sandalwood which shows well and is evident in the jambs. the dent in the rh front fender is from teenage girl in the church parking lot backing into it. she cried.  that is the only dent on it.  it has some bubbling in the normal area for these cars, the corners of the back window. it has been inspected, and is only surface.  also has some on the pinch welds of the doors where the skin meets the shell at the bottom, and the bottom lip of the trunk lid and a minor spot or two under the door mldg.  Clean, well kept, and original.  great daily driver, or great start for restoration.  the Snyper wheels are NOT included with the car.  It will include the original 15" alum wheels on used BFG t/a's.  Any questions or inquiries please call or text me at 256-223-9809.
thanks.

Engine Tech / Head Gasket or ??????
-by the symptoms I was having on the '86 TC, I ASSuMEd it was a head gasket blown, or blowing.  Got it apart last nite and it looks to be ok.  seems to have some oil getting into the cylinders, but no coolant signs. no breaks in gaskt.  here is what it was doing. had started running a little rough on start up. would eventually clear. seem fine going down road. every now and then a hiccup, like a miss. had done tune up about year and a half earlier.  then I drove to work one morning. got off. fired up. running rough. clears up. leave. hit the interstate on ramp, start losing power. more gas I give the slower the engine gets. let off, coast over to emer. lane. still running. get back on gas slowly, it goes, but is missing. next exit is a little over a mile away. make it there, get off, double back to work. still running rough. hiccup, jerk, skip. park it at work. haven't drove since.(about 4 months now) would go out and crank it up every now and then. didn't ever over heat. would be an awful smell out of the exhaust. assumed again it was burning coolant. and now, have it in, head off. no signs of coolant on pistons, no gasket breakage, so it seems like that was not it. any ideas or overlooking??? thanks in advance.........

Electrical Tech / Fog/Headlamp woes......
sorry....little long......

-ok electrical gurus...i can run a video cable thru multi components with no problem, but following electrical wires to me is a nightmare!  here is the problem....on my '86 TC driver, the p.o. took the wires off the back of the fog lamp switch, it has a black one, a brown one, and a light blue?/with a red stripe.  (3 wires.)  they took the blue/red one and stripped it and connected it to the brown one....with tape.  they then made a wire and connected it to the left over connector from the blue/red one and ran it down, and put one of those part store connectors on it that slip in behind a fuse to power the switch? i guess.  well one of the bulbs blew in a fog lamp, and i replaced it. went to check and made sure it worked but didnt.  couple of seconds later, i see smoke coming from under the dash.  melted the power wire that went into the fuse panel and the fuse!  thats when i found the wiring spliced. so i figure ill do away with that.  so i undid it, put it back "factory" and now when i turn on the fogs, they dont work, then the power wire to the headlamp switch starts smoking. so i'm not good a finding the problem or diag. one guy said i needed a new headlight switch, that its not putting enough power to the fog lamp switch.  i'm not electrically inclined.  can someone point me in the direction  in which i need to go????  thanks too all......

Misc Tech / Help on the ole water leak........
-did a search but found no pertinant infomation.  i seem to have a water leak on the passenger side floorboard of my '86 TC.  i found the carpet wet on monday by accident and i dont recall seeing any water trails when i put in the heater core back in october, but i really wasnt looking that hard.  everything "looks" normal around that area, but has anyone found something before that might point me as to where to look for a leak??? thanks...:)
