Suspension/Steering / Re: 245/50/16 Tires
I had some on my old 83 5.0 'Bird...no issues and only occasional rubbing of the driver side tire on the fender lip.  On 16x7" wheels.

It sure looked like it.

And the 6000 SUX was based on a GM midsize car from the mid 1970s...Buick Regal, Chevy Malibu, Olds Cutlass Supreme...IIRC the doors told me it was the Chevy.

Yup, I was wrong...

Quote
Two complete SUX cars that were fully operational was built with parts for a third one that the pro*duction people blew up in Dallas. From the beginning they wanted a big car in the four-door configuration, one that could be modernized to make It look more futuristic, so for the basic body they chose a '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, mainly because it had an Interesting window line.

They designed in a large air inlet In the front, a couple more air inlets on the sides and toward the rear and then a very large rectangular exhaust system In the center rear. The actual auto bodies themselves were made from fiberglass components. They mocked up the SUX in metal, foam and plastic, and then took fiberglass molds of it and made fiberglass parts. The complete front end was all removable as one piece back to the windshield, and the back end lifted up like a trunk. As for the engine and interior work, that was all stock -whatever came with the Oldsmobile in the first place.

Engine Tech / Re: forced induction and speed density
1 bar = 14.7psi.

Atmosphere is 14.7psi...thus your std n/a MAP sensors are 1 bar.

2 bar = 25.4 psi absolute, or 14.7psi over atmospheric

3 bar= 44.1 psi absolute, or 25.4psi over atmospheric

IIRC the MAP sensor in my M-S kit is a 2.5 bar unit...or good to 22psi boost.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Re: Average Miles per gallon
Andrew, it all depends on the amount of hwy driving you do really.  My Tbird/Cougars get much better mileage all around than my 2.3T Ranger does with the same gearing.  It's the aerodynamic factor..the Ranger isn't and the 83 Tbird is fairly slippery.  I've pulled down as good as 32mpg on the hwy (75-80mph).

My 83 turbo 'bird is an ex 5.0 car.

Or you could use a speed density set-up that makes use of a MAP that can sense boost and will adjust fuel accordingly  ;) (<----future MegaSquirter...once I can get the time to get the friggen thing built  )

Your Dodge turbo stuff was like that....

Don't leave shiznit in the car...

I left the faceplate on the headunit of the CD player about 2 years ago (Labor Day).  The truck sits on the street...busted the window, smashed up the dash and took the stereo.  The biggest PITA was that while the rest of the wires came loose at the connectors I added, the antenna did not....let me tell you, it is a BITCH to try and fish a new antenna wire on a Gen 1/2 Ranger..go ahead..try it... This was all during a storm that night (flooded my basp00get....)  The kicker is, I seem to recollect hearing something at about 2am, but it didn't occur to me that it was the sound of breaking glass (figured it was the cats running around the house).  I could have been to my car in under 10 sec if I had looked out the window.  The headunit was going bad anyway :p

Oh well...now the faceplate is taken off every time I park the truck at the house, and 80% of the time it's parked anywhere at night.

You leave stuff in the car it's only an invitation for the low-lifes to take it.
