User Rides / Bird back on the road.
There's been word that the local dragstrip, 75&80, is reopening and it's lit a fire under me to get the bird working again. It's been sitting a close to 2 years, I had to drain the gas and fixed the brake issues which was the reason I parked it originally. Turns out the booster was bad, but I still had partial assist that kept me going in circles trying to figure out what was wrong..

Now I need tires, pretty badly. I got these used and that was 10 years. I was contemplating going with a wider 275 tire, but those only come in 26" and 28" tall sizes. I have 27" tall 255/60R15's on there now and after looking at it today, I got to say, I really like the stance with the 27's. I may go with drag radials for added traction instead of changing sizes.

Anyway, here are some pic's just after a quick wash.

Suspension/Steering / Rear tire sizes
Hey all, I thought this topic was beaten to death, but I can't seem to find the info any more since the site switch. Anyway, it's time for new tires on my bird and I think I may want to go wider. Have people ran 275/50r15s or 275/60r15s without rolling the fenders and retaining the quad shocks?

I can't decide between the 26" or the 28". I currently run 255/60r15s which are about 27. So if anyone has pics that would be very helpful.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Anyone recognize this car? wrecked XR-7

Really sad. Looks to be well taken care of until the accident. I have always liked the GST kits also.

They did the Taurus heater controls too, which leads me to believe the previous owner wasn't a 'nobody'. It looks like the sper doesn't realize it's not original.

edit, just saw the odometer says 79k, man that's a shame....

LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / 87 XR-7 in maryland
saw this for sale at the MT Airy park and ride. looks to be in nice shape. they're asking 5,000, which I think is a little high, but if it were mine to sell, I'd also ask about 5. (I know that doesn't make sense, but I rarely do). Is it anyone on here who's selling it?

Drivetrain Tech / help, low brake pedal only while running
hey guys,

so I swapped in a tc rear in my bird (I already have 11 front also) used a 94 cobra(15/16) master and drove it. it drove ok, but had a kinda low pedal. So I wanted a firmer pedal and got a 94 gt master (1-1/16). I bench bled the master, installed, gravity bled the system, then got someone to help me force bleed it. my problem now is the pedal is firm with the engine off, but when i start it, the pedal goes to the floor, i have some brakes, but BARELY. its really not safe to drive. I've since rebled the master once more and the whole system about 4 times and it never gets any better. I'm considering putting the cobra master back on, but that doesnt make sense, how does a smaller master work better. the cobra was a kind of low pedal but it was definitely drive-able, the gt master is not. should I just keep bleeding it a bunch more? its also kind of weird if it is trapped air, that this air didnt get trapped when installed the gt. really need some help guys

thanks
Keith

Drivetrain Tech / tc rear 5 lug conversion
so I was looking at coolcats and it seems to say that with a tc rear, you can use 94-98 mustang axles and 91-92 mark vii rotors, but it did not seem very clear. does anyone know if that setup will bolt right in and work with the tc brake system? thanks

Suspension/Steering / Sn95 rear springs performance
I have set of rear springs of a v8 sn95 in my shed. I was thinking about putting them in(with spacers) to lower my rear slightly. Most threads talk about ride height differences, but I want to know about drive-ability. I know they are softer than our stocks but is it noticeable? Does it ride nicer or feel like the suspension bottoms out. I'd also want to know about drag racing, does the softer suspension hurt your time? Thanks guys

Body/Appearance/Interior / blued headlight
had an extra pair of dingey headlight laying around that i was practicing cleaning up. and while i had them apart i tried to give them a little extra touch. i only did the left ones in the pictures just to get an idea. im not sure how it effects light distribution but this is going on a car that i wont drive at night anyways. thoughts? its going on a blue bird. there are no bulbs in these lights in the pictures either. X

this one i also barely blued the inner as well but you cant really tell

User Rides / some special pics of the bird
some pics i thought some of you may enjoy. just as a note, the rear of my car doesnt sit up that high. there was a little hill there making the suspension travel. XXX

Body/Appearance/Interior / 18'' wheels, who has them? will these fit?
ive been searching mustangs with them, some look really good and pull it off really well, some dont. i also searched through the wheel thread on here and cant really find anything thats not 17's. i would think with our cars being a little bigger than mustangs that 18s would look better. and some 17's look a touch small i feel. unfortunately the wheel thread has not been updated in a while so maybe some people have done this and not put up pics. i dont know much about backspacing, but from what ive gathered, i think these should fit, but i'd rather ask the professionals.

rear

my car is lowered some. i really cant tell the exact amount because so much has changed with weight removal and distribution. any advise or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

tire plans for front are 235/40/18 and rear with 275/40/18 but that can be played with some too. if they just flat wont work, look stupid or wont be worth the effort, please let me know. thanks guys
