Body/Appearance/Interior / Door Lock Solenoid
The solenoid bracket is mounted the the door with a single large rivet.  If you can replace the solenoid by slipping the pegs out of their rubber isolators in the bracket, then bracket removal becomes unnecessary.

Lounge / Got a motor for the T-bird today!!!
Wiring is very simple.  All you need is the EVTM's for both donor and recipient cars, time and no small measure of patience.  Once you believe you have the wiring harness sorted, and before you add power to anything, use a multimeter and the EVTM's to make sure that you have the wires connected correctly. Like any large project, break down larger wiring job into smaller pieces, that will keep you on task and make the whole project more manageable and less likely to overwhelm you.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / TCs with 250,000 + miles?
My last TC has 238K on her.  She isn't my DD any longer, so she may not get any higher mileage put on her before I do the Coyote swap. Before she ended up with a cracked head, she was a blast to drive... and with the crack being as small as it is, I might have been able to keep driving her for a while yet, but she deserved being taken care of, so I put her out to pasture, so to speak.  However, she is still going to remain a TC, just my own interpretation of what a modernized TC would be.  A twin-turbo Coyote powered ground pounder.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / TC side skirts and hood!!!
The under-hood ducting to the IC is worth something, to someone who is interested in restoring a TC.  For someone that is only interested in the TC hood for its looks, the ducting is nothing more than unnecessary weight to be shipped and will likely find its way into a land fill pretty quickly. An entire hood is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I am not going to argue with anyone about their estimation of their goods worth, I can simply choose to keep an eye out for a better deal.  Good luck with your sale.

Also sent my dash pad off to Just Dashes. They said 6-8 week turn around.

What was the cost of the Just Dashes service?

Lounge / micro shaft updates
I operate Windows on several servers, but only as required to support a given piece of software.  Exchange, Domain Services and SQL Server come readily to mind.  For everything else, I use some flavor of Unix or Linux and if the need arises for a windows workstation, I fire one up in a virtual machine.  I can apply updates and back them out easily if I have a problem.  I can literally crash a machine and recover with little more effort than a reboot.  That being said, I have learned in my 20+ years in the IT industry to never be on the bleeding edge, especially when it comes to Windows updates.  My machines are set to notify, but not install updates, allowing me the time to research each patch and update and avoid many of the hassles that come with installing buggy updates.  This strategy has served me well for the last 15 years.

My retired Parents still run XP Pro SP3 on a couple of identical Dell workstations purchased in 1999 with whopping 10GB hard drives and 512MB of RAM. Their virus protection is of course up to date as is their hardware firewall.

User Rides / At the junkyard on New Years Day
No, of course not.  It makes one wonder why the legislatures would be getting between someone willing to sell something and someone willing to buy something, by sticking their noses into the transaction with silly regulations.

LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / Nice looking 88XR7
Quote from: FirstBird;406037
"This car is the XR7 without the badges, Ford made them this way for Insurance reasons." Is this true? or?

No, there are several differences between the XR7 and the LS.  These would include the quadra-shocks in the rear, steering rack ratio, I believe larger sway bars and stiffer suspension. As for the ol' "insurance" rhetoric, this wasn't the late 60's anymore, so insurance had little, and more than likely NOTHING, to do with the marketing of these cars in 1987.

Engine Tech / mystery bracket on engine
My Guess is that this was some kind of "handle" to be used during assembly, giving the assembly line worker something to hold on to, other than the fairly fragile upper intake manifold.

Engine Tech / Thermostat and Thermostat housing
I would never recommend using an impact wrench on any fastener, which if broken or stripped would take the car out of service or would require lots of labor or special tools to remove, replace or repair.  That being said, I have used an impact gun tearing DOWN an engine, removing an exhaust and removing lug nuts...
