Electrical Tech / Odometer Correction
I've completed the cluster swap on the new Bird, so now I've got my eatc and my full digital cluster.  It required gutting the dash for it's harness and swapping the HVAC box (and ALL the ducting) as well as swapping one of the heater hoses from the engine bay, swapping the fuel sending unit, and will require a different oil pressure sending unit (not swapping because I'm engine swapping another motor that has it already), WHEW! gasp.  The problem is that the car has 71k on it, and the cluster I transferred has 180k.  I thought I'd be able to disassemble both clusters and swap the center speedo module, but I can't.  They're different.

Does anybody know of a way to "correct" the odometer so that it's mileage matches the rest of the vehicle?

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Start of the Part-Out - 88 Thunderbird 5.0
First item up was found in the trunk in original packaging and in 99% new condition.  This is a "Bra" for 87-88 T-Bird, it seems to have been installed at one point, but removed shortly after as the leather is clean, un-cracked, and has original folding creases in it. (if it had spent a great amount of time on the car, these would have flattened out) This is as close to NOS as it gets with one of these.  Google "E7SZ-19A413-A"; nobody has this.  I've got the original Ford Genuine Accessories Box that's slightly water-stained on the bottom as you'll see below, and both pieces of the cover, also below.

I'd like to start at $80, If I'm just batshiznit crazy at that price we'll talk about coming down a bit.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / 3d-printing
So a lot of guys here do a lot of different things for a living; does anybody or has anybody done any work with 3d-printing?

I was thinking about the parts we're all perpetually hunting for, and it seems like most of the ones I could think of were made from plastic.  What if we could print these parts?

Clear plastic parts might present some sort of challenge, and so would chrome parts, but if a guy here knew about plating or plastics, we could overcome that.

Just wondering.

Engine Tech / Unconventional Engine/Trans pull
Has anybody here ever pulled engine/trans together from a fox car?  I'm going to be needing to pull this one off in a couple of weeks, and I was considering dropping the powertrain with the K-Member and the crossmember from the bottom as a quick means of affecting a transplant.
There's a number of things I know that will have to disconnected, but i can't be that different from dropping out of a Taurus.
Brake lines - disconnect/remove depending on routing
steering shaft
lower fuel lines
cat-back exhaust
column shift linkage
trans cooler from the radiator (leave on k-member and trans)
front springs
struts disconnect from knuckles
wiring from the shakers (and whatever few connect independently)
hoses
A/C lines at compressor

I figure I can keep the headers and the h-pipe attached to the engine and crossmember.  Has anybody done it this way or similar?

User Rides / Parting out my 5.0L LX car.
I just bought a cleaner nicer 5.0L car and I'm going to be transferring my engine, trans, exhaust, rear, cluster, eatc and dual power seat frames.  Everything else, including the 71,000 mile 5.0SO and AOD and 7.5" 2.73 open rear from the car I just bought is up for grabs.

What can I get money for?

The body of the LX is bad around the bottom of almost every panel, but the hood and decklid are clean, the backglass and both door windows are good, the door windows have never had the tabs separate from them, and so on.  The interior is red, but faded and probably not worth having, the dash is cracked per usual.  Most of the body and interior will probably go to s.  I'll have front and rear light housings available also.
The moonroof, sadly, works but can't be transferred to the new car, is this something I can sell?

What's worth selling?

Once I've got some answers and the project starts, I'll be putting stuff up in the 'For Sale' section.

Lounge / Those fools don't seem to get it
I bought my wife an 07 Fusion for Christmas, and since I have so much fun here with MY car, I joined a Fusion owners forum.
[rant] Let me tell you, they haven't got guys over there that know ANYTHING.  Everyday I'm trying to explain to these dimwits things like why their HID kits all keep blowing ballasts and burning relays (just a simple example).
We're WAY more technically savvy here.  I can't even believe the contrast.  If I told anybody here that they're killing ballasts because the headlights get a PWM signal, and that you needed to take a ground switch signal off the headlight switch before the module so you could feed your relays a clean signal that doesn't make them flutter and pass the PWM destruction on to the ballasts, you'd believe me.  You'd understand, and you'd tell each other or explain to each other the same because 12 other guys would know what that meant.  You would almost all find and read it from the original thread and NOT keep posting the same new thread for the same old problems and getting the same answer until your whole electrical board was nothing but bitch threads about junk HIDs.

Seriously, the whole forum has like 6 actual topics at any given time, even though there are thousands and thousands of threads. [/rant]

I like it here.  You guys are smart.

Lounge / Winter Driving
Who lives in a frozen state (or Canada) and drives their Bird/Cat in the winter?  Last year was the first I had with mine, but since I had 3 cars and my sister had none, I loaned it to her (in stock condition) for the winter.  This winter it's MY DD, and it's up by around 130hp.  I've been getting along on 4 new Winterforce (unstudded) without any balast, mostly by just braking in neutral and letting the tires have just a little slip on take off.  I'm an experienced winter driver, I've had about 8 yrs experience in the northern tip of Michigan's lower peninsula, along with 8 more in central Michigan, so I know a few things about winter driving, but this is the most powerful RWD car I've ever spent a winter with and I'm looking for tips from guys who've done what I'm doing now.

Lounge / catalytic converter weirdness
So I got a call from my dad the other night. His SHO died and the story he told had me shaking my head.  He had a back tire go down fast while on the freeway and rather than pull over and change it (he had lost his nerve after a blowout on the same freeway about a month before) he slowed down and rode the side for 5 or 6 miles til he could get off the highway.  He gets into a station and puts on his full-sized spare and as he's pulling back out the car starts dying out on him. It stalls and won't restart, so I come out and look it over and determine we need a hook. It gets to the shop today and I fight it to start and bring it in to the bay. The brake pedal is rock hard so I start by looking for vacuum leaks, then I pull codes and find P0430 bank 2 cat efficiency.  Up it goes on the lift and I find a hot bank 1 cat an hot downstream cat and an ice cold bank 2 cat.  Like almost anyone would, I disconnect the ypipe and try the whole start and run idea again.  After blowing out a cloud of raw fuel, we're off and running.  So I've nailed down the problem, but the question is could the radical shaking he claims to have put the car through have broke the cats loose and packed them into the outlets clogging the bank 2 upstream like a cork?

Engine Tech / Header wrap
I just picked up some used BBK shortys and while they're still somewhat shiny, they're too rusty looking for me.  Nobody around here does ceramic coating, I don't want to do it myself and leaving them the way they are is off the table.  That brings me to header wrap.  Has anybody done this with shortys?  What product should I use?  Installation tips?

Engine Tech / When to upgrade fuel lines?
I just finished replacing my back-half fuel lines.  It's nice to not smell raw fuel anymore, but it made me wonder, at what point is it advisable to move up from 5/16 feed and 1/4 return to something larger, and how much larger should that be?  I have a stock Mark VII pump, and I plan to move up to a 255lp/h at some point, but right now I just have too many irons in the fire for that.
