In this thread you'll find archives of the threads that were determined to be invaluable in the old board. The threads were archived verbatim, with nothing changed, so that you may see them as they were originally. They are mostly in PDF format, with links to the original threads on the old board. The original threads will remain active for as long as EZBoard sees fit to keep them so.
I will be updating this post as I get more archived. In the meantime, if any of you get anything archived feel free to post it here as well!

Well, I have 1943 threads from the old site saved so far. :D
I guess that's a good deal better than my three... :o
Now, if I can only get my little spinning Ford thing to work over here...
Try it now. I have just reduced the number of posts before you become a member (instead of a "Junior member") to "2". Hopefully that will allow avatars for you.
Nope, not yet. Still a dot in the "Do not use Avatar" radio-button that won't go away. Maybe this post will put me over the top?

thats all i could find worth saveing, but im sure i missed alot. i feel we still need some definent answers on lowering springs, it seams that everytime the question is brought up, the answer is never a deffinent yes you can use... more along the lines of i have these and so far its ok, or the ride is terrable and the ass end drags.
*EDITED BY THUNDER CHICKEN* Removed all of the old EZBoard links, as they don't work anymore
Ok, just so I understand it correctly, does this mean most of the threads from the old board will be history unless they are specifically archived?
Nope. The threads aren't going anywhere, as long as EZBoard doesn't delete 'em. It just means that should that happen there will be backup copies.
Yeah I agree with Nate about the springs question. I could use some more info myself. Maybe if people can post which springs they have w/ a picture and rate them like you see at tire sites ( height, ride quality, clearance, tire size,...etc)
good think'n bob i like that idea. that spring question comes up like every day
Whoops... did I say 1943? I meant 2322. :D
EDIT: Uhhh... 2692.
All of:
Audio, Body&Appearance, Electrical, Engine Tech, General.
Working on:
Drivetrain, Engine Swapping, Misc, Pro&Street racing, Suspension&Steering.
EDIT: Drivetrain done.
A few batch files, an old DOS Html viewer, a couple of little QBasic programs I whipped up, and they'll all be reduced to pure text. Much easier to archive on my tiny HD or in ZIP files for the site.
when will you be able to allow us to stroll thru them?
Uhhh... right now. Just click on this link
and you can browse to your heart's content. I even set them up to look exactly like the old site, pop-ups and all.

:rollin:
How about 3736?
I think I'm done. Now to figure out how to convert them all to pure text (the simple part) but keep the links to pics and sites that are inside the message text, while ignoring the ones outside. Hmmm.....
so if you imply that ive always had access to it,,,, then where was this link before you posted it just now :dunno:
ive looked a couple times now and its is not in an obvious place.
I guessing that no one else bothered to ask you yet cause from the last post, it appeared that you were still working on the collection/access part.
Joke (n.) Something not said seriously, or not actually meant; something done in sport.
Thunder Chicken got it. :D
yeah,, you mean about pop ups and all,, :giggle: i laughed at that part,
no , i just wondered if i was missing something or not about the link.
What he meant was that you can view all of the threads on the old board (it is still there, after all). He just gave you a link to the old board.
The old board is empty
Yes, indeed it is. A few months ago EZBOARD got hacked and they lost the information on thousands of messageboards, including our old one. They said that they were trying to recover it but essentially said to not hold your breath. It's gone forever. Thankfully Masterblaster has archived just about all of it...
I tried clicking on some of the EZboard links, apparently they've been deleted...
Dunno for sure, will try again later.
See my post above: EZBoard crashed and lost all of the threads. They're gone forever.
yeh, I saw that, but did read that MAsterblaster had archived most of em....
Does he still have em, I wonder?
Some of those mods I was gonna do when weather warmed up.
If not though, no biggie.
Yeah, they're still here.
I usually only use them when I see "I remember a thread on the old board about......" and then I'll do a search.
Occasionally I'll pop in there and have another go at my home-brew automatic html-to-text converter, trying to keep the good links found in posts and ignoring ezboard stuff, but it's mostly an if-I-have-free-time hobby-type thing now. Way too many posts do do manually (without going bug-eyed after a few hours) and way too big to upload somewhere as-is (on dial-up).
Aren't all of the modds for our cars on the coolcats site. If we needed to store this info somewhere else as well, how much room would be needed. I love the idea knowing all this info is around somewhere for us to look up when needed. I plan on doing/finishing things on my yellow cat and maybe even my blue one as well in the future once my finances improve, slowly, but they are improving. I even plan on learning to do some things for myself once I have the space/time/money and other resources.
I have some of the mods on the site, but not all...and a lot of what I have need to be updated because we (here) have collaborated and discovered new information. I'd rather not be the sole "collector" of mods for these cars. Spreading out the wealth is wise because a) if my site goes down for whatever reason then people can still find the info elsewhere, b) multiple sites with the same information builds integrity and trust, and c) more sites = more web traffic for all. I think things have gotten resolved a lot quicker here on the board, rather than me waiting for e-mails from people who are trying to do something.
However...I do like the notion of a central library of sorts.
Is the digital speedo mod on the coolcats site? I can't get it from here.
http://www.coolcats.net/tech/advanced/199speedo.html
So, who wants these things? Eric? Carmen?
3735 threads converted to pure text (finally), and/or the original versions as "Save page, HTML only".
I only have *slow* high-speed, so I won't be uploading/emailing them to half the world.
.
send them to me and I could find a way to host them. It would be kind of funny to read some of the things I posted when i was 16.
Wow, too cool. Cant wait to go through them.
Send 'em to me, I'll host 'em and link to them in this thread.
My email is thundercat at foxthundercats dot net
I can't open these links. They come up to something yuku, what am I supposed to do?
jpc647 (and to anyone else reading this who was not around when we did the big move several years ago): The old links are gone forever. This board used to be hosted on a public (free) forum site known as EZBoard, but we moved it to its own site several years ago after getting tired of EZBoard blackmailing us for money. They basically forced us to contribute money or they'd make the site unusable by bombarding users with popup ads. Our decision to move the forum was also based on the fact that the membership was growing beyond the capacities of a "free" host, and it proved to be a very good one, for shortly after we moved it, EZBoard was hacked and lost all of the information, not just on our forum but on all forums it hosted. Now it seems that EZBoard itself is gone for good, replaced with whatever the hell Yuku is.
Thankfully Masterblaster took it upon himself to archive the entire old forum before it disappeared.
Out of curiosity, did they ever make it?
I sent them, and got confirmation that they had arrived.
After that......................
A few things have come up that have prevented me from uploading the archives, mainly my having to go back to dialup again because the fly-by-night company I had high speed with was really g me off (the service was extremely unreliable and they had no tech support). The province's major high speed provider is supposed to, by law, offer high speed in all areas by years end, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to get things up by new years.
Success?
