external oil pump on the 3.8L

Ok,, im looking for someone how knows about the proportioning valve in the timing cover on the 3.8L v6 and its likelyhood of sticking or getting in a bind.

it is held in place by a freeze plug floowed by a spring and a proportioning valve that regulates oil flow from the external pump gears.

who has had problems with this device sticking?
