Title: CUSTOM Indiglo and White Gauges (Available for ALL Configurations)
Post by: Panther37 on October 28, 2005, 10:27:18 PM
(http://matt.codders.org/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4892&g2_serialNumber=2)

Pricing:  $50 for a custom design.  This is just for the design.  This means it costs $50 for a custom file be it .pdf, .cdr, .ai or whatever other format you want it in.  I will accept $30 up front and $22 after it's done (I don't need PayPal double charging a split-disbursp00get.)  You are allowed to freely distribute the design you purchase.  If you buy a design and your friend wants to use it, feel free to let him use it.  I'd appreciate a kickback but it is not required.  If you charge money for your friend to use it, that is not allowed.  If he says thanks by getting you a gift or some beer, that’s a good thing too.

Option 1:  After you pay the $50, I will tell you how to make the gauges yourself.  I have some supplies that I still have from buying in bulk that I will sell you.  I will tell you when to purchase from just one vendor or just get it however you can.  ($50 to me DiY costs $25-$100 depending upon what you already have = $75-$150 TOTAL)
Option 1a:  I can print out the gauges and attach them to indiglo.  It will be your responsibility to trim them, cut out holes, get an inverter and hook it up.  This cost will vary depending upon what I can find the indiglo for ($25-$50) plus shipping (about $10). ($85-$110 TOTAL Shipped)

Option 2:  After you pay the $50, I will tell you the name of someone who can manufacture gauge faces that are two piece, top plastic face and bottom indiglo light.  His charge is about $120 USD (HVAC, trip computer, etc are extra) (He doesn't charge USD.) ($50 to me and $120 to him = $170 TOTAL)

Option 3:  For an extra $150 over the $50 I will have the gauges manufactured for you.  They will be in two layers, the top plastic face that looks professional and the bottom indiglo piece that lights it all up.  HVAC, trip computer, etc are extra and will only cost you what it costs me.  ($50 gauge design + $30 shipping, handling and getting the gauges made + $120 make the gauges = $200 TOTAL)

Pics of top plastic face and bottom indiglo: http://matt.codders.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=4888

Extras:
Design time over 4 hours: $10/hr (Once I hit 5 hours, you owe $5.  If I take 4:59 on your gauges, you owe nothing.)

I will base all orders off these designs:

I'm sorry, I'm a little new to this forum.  When you say "t/c" to you mean a Turbo Coupe or thunderbird / cougar?  Either way I though I had designed for both.  Let me know if this page doesn't have the correct gauges on it.

Something like whats available HERE (http://"http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-COLOR-2-RPM-TACHOMETER-TACH-GAUGE-EL-GLOW-UNIVERSAL_W0QQitemZ8007813319QQcategoryZ33679QQcmdZViewItem")

I can't have them changing colors like that.  Some invertrs can change the frequency and the will change the color some, like blue to green.  I don't think that tachometer is indiglo either.

I already matched the Autometer Nexus gauges for the 92-95 Civic: http://panther37.xtothezracing.com/files/WLP%20-%20Aaron%2001.pdf  In short, I can make your gauges look like whatever aftermarket gauges you have or plan to get.

I can make one of those.  For better accuracy I would need a better picture of 0 to 20 km/h.

Thank you.  Naw, that's good enough for me.  I'm about to start my work shift so it might be 5 days before I finish it.  Were there any mph speedos that whent to 120-125?  I just needed to see for the picture if 0-10 and 10-20 were the same as 20-30 and 30-40.

I can use your custom design or I can make you up a custom design.  After I have a speedo that matches yours it is very easy for me to customize it since I use Corel Draw (for those who don't know it is a program similar to Adobe Illustrator.)  I might even take your picture and turn it into a corel draw file depending upon how detailed (dpi) your design is.  I can do anything you want pretty much.  I had one person ask me for silver lettering.  I had to say no to metalic ink becasue my printer doesn't support it.  If you have any more questions, let me know or email me at panther37@gmail.com

I'm still not set on the design of my gauges so I'm not ready to order quite yet, but when I finally do cast my design in stone, as it were, I'll be getting back to you. I've just got too many decisions, including color now that I see there are several available. About the only things I'm certain of so far with my design are that they will be retro like the new Mustang's gauges, they will be based on an 85-converted-to-140MPH speedo but with metric markings to 220 kph, and they will be based on an 87-88 Turbo Coupe tach with the boost gauge deleted and the "firm ride" light replaced with a "security" light. I'm still working on a bunch of other details too, such as replacing the AMP gauge with a volt gauge, which may require changing the layout of the small gauges altogether.

If you want my input on your design I'd love to help you out.  Some people ask for things that make visibility chalenging.  If I see anything like that in a design, I will let you know.  If you are after custom colors I have more available.  The supplier is more expensive so I have to add $60 to the price!  Just pay attention to the ON color as I almost always put a white paper over the indiglo. The colors off of the picture that I offer are SGB (blue) WH (white) NLG (green) and NRD (red.)  SGB is really blue though.  In most pictures is looks aqua or cyan but it is a really nice blue.

These are actually more tempting now that I've tested color LED's in the center console to find that the overall color loses its green tint to become red or blue. Was just playing with some cheap LED's off ebay and although the ones I got are about equally as bright as the normal bulbs, the color intensity put out by the LED seems to mask the stock green glow. If I change one part, I want all the colors to match. Seems like blue with a blue tripminder is the closest I'll get.

would you be interested in making a set that appear stock when off but have the numbers and hashes light up in green when on and the blue/red/yellow colors for high/low on the gauges light up accordingly?

does anyone know if there is a way to make an 85 speedo operate like a 140, is there a way to program it?

Done much with Mark VII gauges? I had planned on buying white-faces at some point for my '89 LSC. Not sure when that'll happen now with my current situation, but I'd still like to go white-face at some point.

If you can provide me with a scan of the gauges or the gauge faces themselves I should be able to make them for almost any vehicle.

About that, I need to know how the gauges fit in the cluster.  If any one has any images similar to this (http://caleb.no-ip.com/upload/cam22t0040.jpg) it would be very helpful.  This is what the gauges look like so far  I haven't punched out the holes yet.  Cougar man also paid extra fro me to cut out the odometer and trip rectangles along with the rest of the gauge.  I can cut all of it or there won't be a place to connect them.  I need to make sure the little gauges will stay in place.  The tach and speedo only need the needle hole and the two other screws to stay put.  The little gauges just have their shape.  If these ones don't work, don't worry.  I have some extra blue indiglo.

Also, I have reverse indiglo available.  Once I get all my materials shipped to me I can show you some samples.

This is where you will have to modify your cluster.  On the yellow lines you will have to sand the lip down smooth so the power connection can get through.

All you need is one silver spot and one white mark that's next to it.  I try and leave two of each incase there is a problem wiring.

Panther37, I was wondering if you could do up a set of gauge faces in white, with letters/numbers in black, that light up indiglo red.
I dunno what color the backgrouns should be at night though, any suggestions?
The speedo would be 140mph, tach to 7,000, and a different font than the stock gauges have.
There's no boost gauge, or firm ride light.
I'm not 100% decided on what font I want though, will have to figure that out.
Mainly just seeing if these are possible, and cost.
Thanks

All I need are the gauge faces scans.  If some one's already scanned them I can use those.  If not, either you can scan your stock gauges or you can send them to me for scanning.  If needed I can send them back to you quickly.  This applies for most cars and trucks.

Will it be the same price for just the Fuel, Oil, Charge & Water gauges? I'm thinking about getting them in the Autometer Cobalt style. Same lighting as well.

Also can you make new heater control face plates?

If you answered these questions already I apologize. I just skimmed through the posts.

Thanks.

I just figured out another way to make the gauges and warning plates.  I did this example of a 92-95 Civic.

(http://gauges.panther37.com/images/th/civic_08_1.jpg) (http://"http://gauges.panther37.com/images/civic_08_1.jpg") (http://gauges.panther37.com/images/th/civic_14_1.jpg) (http://"http://gauges.panther37.com/images/civic_14_1.jpg")

They are a little bit more restrictive but look more professional.
Face color choices, White, Black, Blue, Silver
Then I can have them glow up to two different colors.
Please let me know if this type is more favorable or not.

The "printing" is available in white if you want white letters on blue or black.

If you can scan the gauge faces, I can make them for you.  Scan the middle fuel gauge thingy too if you can.
Scan them at 600 dpi (I don't need any more but I can use a low as 200 dpi) and tilt the gauges between 5°-30°.  Scans are never 100% straight.  It is harder for me to get them straight when they are really close.
Example: (http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/281/fueltemp8hj.th.jpg) (http://img151.imageshack.us/i/fueltemp8hj.jpg/)
Then email them to panther37@gmail.com and we can talk from there.

(look at the right half of this picture) (http://"http://gauges.panther37.com/gauges/ford/cougar/1985-1988_fox/install/20080309_7009_Small.jpg")  The wiring and inverter can all be contained in the gauge cluster.  The inverter fits behind the speedo. (picture) (http://"http://gauges.panther37.com/gauges/ford/cougar/1985-1988_fox/install/20080309_7016_Small.jpg")  The power can be tapped from the stock gauge lighting.
