We are gonna get together and do it again this year!
There will be an open dyno day at Greg's(5.8fastcat) shop on July 6, 2013. This means there will be plenty of local rides for everyone to check out and watch spin the rollers.
If you plan to hit the dyno, lets us know ASAP so we can ensure every Thundercat has a slot in the schedule!

The dyno day will start early and wrap up around noonish. The cost for 1 pull is $40 or you can get 3 for $75. Food will be on the grill for lunch.
After the dyno day, FTBCF attendees will be hanging out for the afternoon then we will venture to a local cruise-in for the evening.
For anyone planning travel days around Saturday's festivities, the local Days Inn has been the hotel of choice for our group. Rooms are clean, rates are reasonable, they have a pool, and no one has bothered us hangin out in the parking lot at late hours in the night.

Good to hear Chris, I will be there Saturday morning again and hopefully Mark can bring his t-bird this year. :headbang:
Days Inn is giving those who stay at this Hotel a $24 discount per night for saying your are with the ThunderCat Group which will be at $75 +tax regular rate is $99 Fri & Sat
Good to hear.
Hopefully I can make it this year. (unless my work schedule changes for the worst)
I'm anxious to get the NHRA Stock Eliminator '86 Turbo Coupe I bought in Dec. on the dyno. Marty Buth set 9 national records (combined between IHRA and NHRA) with that car.
I'll be trying for records # 10 and 11 for the car @ the NHRA National Open in Bowling Green, KY in late May. (insert smiley face here)
Dan, thanks for that! Called and had my reservation updated.
Alan, I hope you can make it. I'd like to see another one of Marty's cars. I got to see his Mustang at Gateway last year with the TurboFord meet.
Would you believe that with only adding a roll bar to Marty's T-Bird it can legally run NHRA Super Stock ?
I couldn't believe it when I ran the numbers.
Neat...so my plan for next year after I add the roll bar is to run SS in complete Stock Eliminator trim.
What's even more shocking to me is that that TC has the original upper and lower 1986 rear control arms and quad shocks still on it.
Also has stock front struts and springs.
Wow...and it lifts the left front tire.

I would like to have my car roadworthy by then to attend this year! Good goal to work towards, I would love to be surrounded by other birds and cats from the blue oval family.
Dan,
Thanks for following though on the getting us a discounted rate a the Days Inn again!
For those who aren't familiar; this will be the Third Year for our gathering. It would be great to have a few new cars & faces this year.
Working on it! Right now the punch list has 17 items. Lots of great work has been done, but things get done slow, when most everything takes three times to get it right!
Mark
I must have missed one! Yeah, now I remember. That was the begining of the end for one of my staff. I was not happy about cancelling!
Julie, Ray and I will be there. Right now the plan is to bring the 30th Anniversary Cougar.
I bought another Fox Cat but you will have to show up to see what it is
and with any luck the Turbo cat will be under her own power by then. Might even put her on the dyno
Seeing the turbo car on the rollers would be worth the trip just by itself!

Thanks for posting the pic again
Possible road trip....
Who doesn't like foxtbird/cougars :-)
Travis
Travis, it's a great time line to have your car ready!
I'll be there! Woo woo!
You guys need an AWD dyno. :p
It would be cool to attend........
Can you run a FWD car on there??
Just requires 180 degree rotation about the z-axis!
I just might have to try to get there and see what the little R/T can do.
Of course, that all depends if it's road legal by then. Abandoned vehicle/mechanics lien titles seem to take forever  soooo much red tape.
Sweet! I'm hoping to be there all day for this one! I missed last year because I didn't know about it until it was too late, lol. That my fault because I wasn't on here as much as I should have. Greg, let me know if you need any assistance! :)
Derik are you planning on dynoing your Cougar ? :burnout:
Traffic Alert the blue bridge which you have to cross over if coming from Indiana (hwy 161) southbound into Owensboro,Ky has been closed as of today 5-13-13. They are repainting and it's not set to open back up till late fall. For those of you arriving from the north there is another bridge east of Rockport,In (hwy231) that will get you back into Kentucky and near Owensboro. You can also go Hwy 41 into Henderson,Ky and pick up the Audubon Parkway heading east over to Owensboro. :poke:
Ugh, thanks for the heads up
*edit, Google shows the bridge on 161 is closed, not the 231 bridge.
I use the 231 bridge, so I should be good to go!
I'm going to do my very best to be there this year. Have to wake the car up from a 2 year nap and swap the transmission. Stupid question, are you guys staying Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday?
Claude , Friday & Saturday are the 2 nights they stay some of us who live closer just drive there on Saturday morning.
p.s. considering coming over to hangout Friday night. :headbang:
Its about time CLWD! I stay both Friday and Saturday nights.
Be there, or be square!!!
I'm staying Friday/Saturday night. Probably get in late-ish Friday evening. Leave Sunday morning after a group breakfast and take the scenic route back.
*ttt
Only 3 weeks away fella's. :headbang:
The trans is coming out of the Bird tomorrow night to diagnose a severe oil leak. If its a simple fix, I'll be there with the car, if not, I'll be there with 'a' car...
*crosses fingers*
Hope the R&R and diag go smoothly
Head gaskets and timing gasket for the T-bird this weekend! Time is flying by
Thanks Chris! There are a lot of good things on how this new combination has turned out, lots of previous irritations have been addressed This
seems to be the last hurdle which is significant. I'm confident it'll be fixed, the wild cards are: What is it & how long will it take!
That's a bit of work. Thankfully there is no fabrication to deal with. Hope goes smoothly!
Yes, a simple HG and timing chain is waaay easier than your project. Hope to see your 'bird in KY. :D I want to make a point to ride in people's car this year to broaden my horizons!
The trans is out. It's the pan gasket, so the engine has to come out to address it properly. Getting it out isn't an issue, the reinstall can be a time killer!
Mark , You can do it....only because we know you can friend. :burnout:
Dam missed it again
This year's event is on July 6th 2013 friend. :rollin:
I've finally made reservations today. We'll see if the Thunderbird will make the journey by the end of the week.
Made my reservations too. Asked them why it shows as sold out on the website. They said the manager did so to make it easier on the front desk during the busy time of the year. I wonder how many people look online and just go to the next option (like I did two years ago ;))
Weather is still hard to predict this far out but here is the website I've been going by here lately for our gathering in Owensboro,Ky folks. :america:
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/owensboro-ky/42303/july-weather/735?monyr=7/1/2013
yeah but a buddy of mine is having a bachelor party that day and night I gotta make sure we don't get kicked out of Newport KY again....
I'll be there this year! (Do y'all remember me????):pbb:
Sure, from CatJam 2008! You were "furthest traveled". Might be again this year.
Looks like the hotter humidity will not be a problem for this gathering over the Weekend fella's. :headbang:
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/owensboro-ky/42303/july-weather/735?monyr=7/1/2013
Doesn't look like the head gaskets will be done by Friday. Will most likely be in the Subie! I expect to be given rides in everyone's Fox. :D
My friend Mike & I put in 8 hours on the Thunderbird on Sunday, and there's probably another 4 or 5 to go. I'll be spending the 4th in the garage. Assuming no issues, it'll be in Ky!
I'll probably be a passenger in whatever Ed decides to drive this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
Ray
Royce is here at the Days Inn. Just gunna hang out maybe go grab sumthing to eat. If anyone else shows up here to tonight give a holler here or a PM.
I'm in for the night. Shoulder muscle is spasming. On the heating pad. PS Rm 205
Im in 116. Went to see a movie. Will see y'all tomorrow morning!
Thanks again Greg for hosting this years gathering the weather was great with very little humidity. All except for the early rain shower everybody seem to have enjoyed the food & ice cream shops as well as the country side view out by your home. I took a few pics which should be up soon and count me in for next yrs event also friend. :rollin:
