Title: 1988 Excalibur Dash
Post by: Muttwood on October 07, 2018, 07:04:48 PM
My red XR-7 project has an early 90s Pioneer system in it.

It sounds good but I was going to put it back to original with stock parts.

I have now decided that the next owner will probably just chuck the OEM and put what they want in anyways.

I might as well keep my valuable stack of stock electronics to my self !

This kit car on eBay has sold me on doing a double din system.

Baxo once did an old school Apple Mini in his dash with a touch screen. Was pretty slick back in the day.

Not many old cars have this amount of space on the dash.

The Fox Bird/Cougar designers really set us up for the future.

The only other older car that I can think of, that had this space was the Oldsmobile Toronado.

It used a CRT TV style screen.

The only thing that might be difficult is finding a vinyl that will look factory or clean to tie it all in.

My thoughts as well. In that case the best bet is probably to repaint/recover all the trim so it matches.
