LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / Seen: Absolutely nothing
I've seen 3 separate Mark VII's in the last few months, one of which belongs to a customer of mine, meanwhile the last fox cat/bird I've seen in the last few years has only been my own...:(

I did find a tbird with a horrible burnt orange paint job on CL the other day though... -which has sadly (or fortunately? lol) been removed recently so I can't post it

Lounge / I think I'm going to revoke my wife's license...
So after a wreck my wife had about 1.5 yrs ago, that actually wasn't her fault and totalled the car, we got a nice check from the insurance company and put a down payment on a new car. At the time, knowing how new cars immediately depreciate as rapidly as they do, I made a point to be sure we had GAP coverage on the loan so we didn't get screwed over if the new car was totalled for some reason. Well that loan had an obscenely high interest rate and after a good year or so of payments she had it refinanced. I wasn't involved in this process and I didn't have to foresight this time to make sure she continued some sort of GAP coverage with the new loan and didn't really think about it.

Well as you probably guessed, she totalled that car about 2 weeks ago. Driving drowsy early in the morning and plowed into the back of a brand new Explorer stopped at the back of the line for a school bus on a long boring 2 lane highway on the way to work. One of those incidents where you immediately know the car is done. And of course, she didn't get the GAP coverage on the new one, which she only finalized less than a month before the incident. So naturally, now we had to cover $3700 difference on that.

The insurance policy does have rental coverage, so we were renting for about a week due to neither of us having time to get out and do any real car shopping. Today I get a call from her that she rolled off the road in the rental, hit a large decorative landscaping rock in someones yard and subsequently bent the rim, scratched up the hubcap, flattened the tire, and trashed the fenderwell all in one go.:punchballs:

This woman is trying to do me in...

Holy , welcome back!  You had a black 87/88 Cougar, right?

Hey, thanks! Yep, black 88 LS. That car I still have but it's been sitting dead a few years, not in the best of shape lately. I'll update the project thread sometime soon with the current condition and story behind that Don't wanna hijack this one :)

Wow so I come back from the dead and here is a post talking about Tom Renzo from back when I was frequenting the site most often lol. I must not have been around when he left, did he get banned?

I will say I was happy to donate what I could to the server support fund back in the day, and would be happy to do so again. EDIT: I just found out there was another one in 2014 and sorry I missed it... It is so refreshing to come here and interact with a board that is not dominated by ads at every post. (I've been lurking around a lot of mustang forums lately)

Plus most everyone here is dedicated to the platform and cares about helping other members rather than just throwing their 2c in where it doesn't belong like a lot of other sites....

So, put me down for +1 on that, Sport :D

Looks pretty neat but if it ever breaks well that would be a serious mess on your hands...

Just one more thing to make the Baja a cool car though. I've always kinda wanted one

Neat. Do you have them powering anything; or just for looks?

I think I was around when you put the new paint and wheels on that was a good while back lol but in other words you've managed to rebuild most of the whole car in a year. You're unstoppable Vinnie :giggle:

3.7 Cyclone would be cool. Or a 3.5 Ecoboost. 3.8 Esshag V6 not so much :p

3.7 indeed. I have that motor in my F150 and it has blown me away at the power that a v6 can really make, which to put in perspective, at 302 HP is MORE than the previous gen 4.6 V8 made, and I get better gas mileage too!

The 3.8 can be needed up pretty easily, its just way more expensive. Even a sc swap would get you easily into the 13's. There is a ton of potential in a 3.8. Just not cheap.

Absolutely. Not cheap for sure but then again is engine building EVER cheap?;) But there is a lot of hidden potential in that motor, it just requires boost to unlock it. It is a torque monster once you throw a decent turbo setup on it... I've seen an SC that put over 900hp/950ft-lbs to the wheels with the right turbo setup. Me? I'll be happy if I can get it around 350hp. That's more than enough for me. I'm not building a strip king here, just something to be  FUN on the street is all I need:D

Plus it's mostly unique. I mean if I wanted to do an HO build I might as well build a Mustang right!? :shakeass:

In other news my "new" ECU came in yesterday so hopefully I'll be able to go this weekend and see if I can fire it up still... Probably not though due to the state of the battery; Does anyone know how long a battery can sit with a discharge before it becomes permanently useless?

Hey that's awesome Vinnie. Now I'll have to actually pick up a copy of MMFF:)

Jeremy aka 347Thunder got to be in the mag a couple years ago too.

So what have you done to The Sport in the last year while I've been gone?

Yeah I pulled the steering column before back when I had to remove the shifter shaft (say that 5 times fast) for the old column shift setup. Probably going to do that this time around as well. Too bad I didn't know about the pedals vinnie... I like to keep the funds in the community but I did by it from some guy called Cougarman...

Lounge / Post products you are **EXCEPTIONALLY happy with
I have a few pieces of audio and music equipment that are money so well spent they leave me tickled pink but this is probably the wrong forum for that lol.

I did, however, recently purchase some lights from VLED's.com for the F150 and holy  those are the brightest  cargo lights I've ever seen on a truck. My cargo lights are brighter than my reverse lights. Needless to say they are next on the list. I loooooooove LED lights. I recently put a couple of LED bulbs in a walk in closet and in my office in the apt and the instant on feature beats the hell out of having to wait for CFLs to warm up, and they are even more energy efficient than CFLs.

I agree on Hitachi tools as well. I was a professional tradesman for seven years and I am still a dedicated Hitachi customer. Their products are not always as rugged and bombproof as Milwaukee who is also a great brand, but they tend to be cheaper, lighter and more comfortable to use overall for the difference. I love their screwguns especially, and even though De-Wallet has stepped up their game in the last few years and come close as well, I still say you can't beat Hitachi for what you pay.

I may need some help once I get there. I've done a good bit of research on it and I think I'm ready for it but we'll see. At least the car isn't my daily anymore so I have some time to get everything I need and time to do it right. I'm really excited to start slamming some gears.

As for the doors, yeah I'm still down. On a related note, my new truck is manual everything and it's much worse because even with my height, (I'm 6'3" not too far from yourself iirc) I still have to literally get out of my seat to roll down the pass window or mash the door lock lol.
