How fast is your computer?

I am curious as to what types, speeds, and specs that everyone here has. I just think it would be cool to see how we all sit.
I have over 10 computers so i am just going to list this one.
266mhz p2 96megs of ram 8gig hard drive dvd player, surround sound(5.1), and a 1000(supposedally)watt sound system with sub. it is more along the lines of 100 to 150 watts.dsl internet(sucks) at 256k download. multipul network hups, most of my computers are older, but they work.  also this is the second computer that i have built for my self. i keep it in good working order.
thanks

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

My Desktop, P3 1 GHZ 512 MB ram, 80 GB drive, 40 GB drive shared with laptop over a wireless network. My laptop is a P3 1.06GHz also with 512 MB ram and a 20GB drive. Both systems run xp pro. My desktop runs soooo good, never had any problems with it. I was going to upgrade the desktop this year but with cable internet, and I don't do any gaming on it she does everything I need her to do. Oh yeah and I got a nice 17.4" flat panel which pretty much ate up the money I had set a side to upgrade the cpu..  :D

Pentiums =  :rolleyes:

I've got an Athlon XP 1800+, 256 in SDRAM, 40 and a 20 GB hard drive, old N'vidia GeForce 440MX, Plextor 52x CD-RW, 3Com ethernet card connected to a D-link residential gateway connected to RoadRunner cable.  Currently running WinXP Pro, just recently reinstalled it after a month-long battle with SuSe Linux to live happily with my sound card.  Oh, almost forgot, Viewsonic 19" flatscreen (not flat-panel) monitor.  It's pretty bad when your monitor's an inch smaller than your TV.

my favorite mother boards and video cards are nvida. just like 3 com is the ultimate in network.i have three nvida mother boards and 6 video cards. you have to at least be pro amd, because if anything intel is more like chevy then nvida is
*** EDIT
also i have a 22" monitor off of a mac. it has a minimum resolution of 1024X768, and i have never met its limit. every video card that i have had isnt better then that monitor. some guys sold it to my dad for $50. they thought it was broken because it dosent display in dos mode.

84kat, i have two computers with basically identical setups, also with suse linux(in my opinion it is more trouble then its worth).

I've had NVIDIA motherboards and video cards that were . (from major name brands)

I've had VIA motherboards that were . (also from major name brands)

If you're into the whole AMD thing, as I am, there really aren't any good chipsets out there for them. The best AMD mobo I've ever owned had the AMD-760 (original Athlon) chipset on it. That's one thing I wish AMD would do, is stop replying on third-party hacks.

I don't really know what the current g match with video cards is.. all I know is that, when I bought my Radeon 9700 Pro, it was THE best card on the market. I get my drivers from Omega Corner, or whatever the site is called now, but it works great. I used to have problems crashing planes in Battlefield: 1942 because I'd get caught up watching the reflections off the Mustangs' wings when I should've been concentrating on flying. Everything was smooth and looked incredible.

EDIT: I'll tell ya, I'd rather go without a computer at all than be stuck with Intel and/or Nvidia product in my PC. If it should ever come to pass that either of those companies runs all the competition out of business, I won't upgrade my PC past whatever I have at that point. (probably an Athlon64, along with this video card)

Current system:
IBM 300GL p166 with 64Mb RAM, 2Gb HD, 2Mb vid.

"New" system in the works:
Asus T2P4 w p233mmx + 128Mb + 6Gb + 8Mb vid.
(All but memory found in local computer store's dumpster on various days)

If anything blows up, I've still got 18 power suppies, 16 Mboards, half a dozen vid cards, a box of NICs, and drawers full of smaller HD's and other "obsolete" stuff (all compliments of the dumpster). Maybe I'll build my own Internet in the living room with the "obsolete" 9-port 10base-T hub.  :p
