Awesome stuff, I saw that earlier today. Imagine if you threw that on the 2012 Boss?

Wow that is insane! Ford really wants to make sure the Mustang is able to stay on top even if you have to pay extra for it! They really overbuilt that new 5.0 engine to handle the extra power. If I had just 300 HP I would be pleased! I used to think 210 HP was quite the step up from every other car I have ever had. I never thought I'd see the day there would be 400HP or more on a normal more affordable production car.

I'm almost tempted to put the new 5.0 in my Cougar rather than build a Stroker motor.

Yeah, it would do better all around than a built up pushrod block, aftermarket or not. These are the kinds of motors that makes moving away from pushrods a simple choice for me. I don't think I trust a 600hp 302/342, aftermarket block or not, to run well for 200k+ miles but this new motor has potential. I'm not a fan of pushrod valvetain geometry stuff :p

I'll sure be watching the Fox Mustang people to see what they do to swap these things into their cars.

With the release of the new 5.0 the resale value on the S197is already starting to go down.  If the motor proves itself, plenty of kiddies will have an S197 as their first car and wreck it.

A 3v swap is gonna be REAL cheap in 3 or 4 years.....

The new 5.0 is an awesome engine, imagine 412, 100% streetable horsepower in our cars? Also, with a few hundred less pounds... :D Oh yeah, that supercharger is nice too.

Throw in the 19/27 gas mileage, and you've got one awesome car.

17/26 with manual (0.65 6th gear with 3.31 ratio rearend) and 18/25 with auto (0.69 6th gear with 3.15 ratio rearend). With something like 3.55's or 3.73's, these would likely be 2-3mpg lower on the highway. You don't really need these lower gears though as the transmissions are geared very well as it is. I'm not sure why the auto doesn't have a 1:1 gear though?

Yeah, the gear spacing on the auto is quite strange if you look at it on paper.
I'd like to test drive one to see how it equates in the real world.

This sir, might get me back into a Ford one day. As a second car anyways. Although I really want a Termie, I like the S197 platform much more than the modified Fox platform...

I miss low-end torque. :burnout:

What they didn't mention is how much more this little package is going to cost. You'll probably be looking at near-Corvette prices for a new one with it installed.

As much as I want it, I'm not even going to pretend like I could afford something like that:toilet:

.....now a cheapo s197 on the other hand.......no..., wait..., can't afford that either:shoothead

(oh well, that's why there's foxes):D

For giggles, I priced out a 2011 Mustang GT exactly how I would order it ( I don't settle for what's on the lot -- you're never fully happy that way) and it was $37,000 on the nose..... Add $8,000 for the blower, $500 for a custom tune, $600 for DR's......you get the picture....not to mention some minor cosmetic changes that I would want done (tail light blackout, match the lower rear bumper).

My car should turn a high 11 now.  I'm into my car for less than 35K and for another $5K can be safely and reliably DEEP in the 10's....

Don't get me wrong; I like the new car, but not enough to justify almost $50K to get it as I want it.....I'm starting to see quite a few new Camaro SS cars on used dealership lots now that the '11's have hit the showroom floors.
