I found this locally. I'm going to get this at one helluva deal. The sad part is the owners husband passed away a short time ago. I can't pass this up.
Yesterday after I got off work, I was headed to Pep Boys to get my wife a steering wheel cover. I came to a stop behind some traffic, and as usual I stopped a car length behind the car in front of me. Prior to coming to a complete stop I noticed a car a good 300 ft behind me, looked back forward, came to a complete stop and looked back in my mirror to see the car behind not stopping. You guessed it, I got rear ended in our new car. The wife had named the car "The Black Pearl".................
I'm having issues posting more pics. I'll do later. Overall I'm glad he was in a small car too as it could've been a whole lot worse. I got a stiff neck but nothing major. And the car is repairable.
So my black birds little 2.3 is starting to give me fits. First, it's starting to puff a little at first start up, not to concerned about that though. The main issue though is its losing coolant. It has a new heater core, no coolant in passenger compartment, No leaks at any of the houses anywhere, No leaks at water pump, No water in the oil or oil in the water, It does have some medium sized bubbles in the coolant at start up and when it's at operating temp, the coolant turns cloudy from tiny tiny bubbles. It seems to be getting aerated. My thoughts are that I have currently have a small head gasket leak. I haven't done a compression check yet. I pulled the plugs and they showed no signs of burning anything other than fuel. Thoughts anyone ??
Ok, I've started the modification on the steel hood. I put the center section I cut out of a damaged hood on to see what it might look like. I'm liking it so I'm going to start with this project.
I know some have already seen this on our FB page, but I wanted to post a few pics here as well. I'm almost done with the mod, just a little more work left.
After spending all day yesterday, vacuuming, cleaning and waxing the new car (we made 2 trips to Abilene with 1 of those with 2 of our cats), I decided that after the wife went back down to Abilene that I would show my black bird some love. I had washed yesterday, I took a mild compund to get rid of the oxidation, then waxed it twice, then took some 0000 steel wool to the windows, wow I can see real good now, it got a good vacuuming and cleaning on the inside and I even vacuumed the trunk. I need to clean the engine bay next though. Here's a couple pics for your enjoyment.........
So 2 weeks ago after dropping me off at work, My wife was sitting at the traffic light right in front of my work. Light turns green, she steps on gas and boom, the front diff exploded and she started to roll backwards. She hit the brakes, put it in park and started rolling again. She put on the ebrake and walked back to get me. I put it on a lift and it was dripping oil from the left cv axle. Just my luck as I had just replaced both axles and the cv joint on the front driveshaft. So after some looking up parts and figuring time, we decided to trade it in for this.
We got a pretty deal as I work there now. Helluva, way to get to meet the big boss.......
Yep, we're moving again. My wife has accepted an offer for a position at a hospital in Espanola NM. But, due to a a prior obligation, we won't be moving till the end of September. It's a big increase in pay for her, her current base pay and my base pay put together. We spent 3 days there, well in Santafe, and it was very nice. We'll have to get acclimated to the higher elevation but that's nothing really. Now I just need to find work.
Ok, so the other night on my way home, as co-worker in his 13' camero ss and I were playing around, he likes to he my turbo spool up, and while I mashed the semi-loud pedal, I about messed my shorts when I noticed that my boost gauge was pegged out at 24 lbs!!! So my question is....has my boost controller taken a permenate vacation? I had bypassed it before but it only ever went up to 15 lbs nothing higher. So I'm at a loss as to why now it has began going so high? And yes I've started to drive like a grandpa...... No offense intended to those who are elderly... to keep the boost at a reasonable level.
Here is a short video of the LED taillights in my black bird. I had previously re-painted the reflectors a bright silver. I had thought about using some chrome vinyl wrap I have to make them brighter. Whatcha you all think? These bright enough or should I do the chrome wrap.
