351w in a 88 bird

I have a 351 I put in the car years ago that I'm rebuilding. My questions are 1 what oil pan can I use I have a double sump pan on the now and one of the humpshiznits the sway bar and makes damon near impossible to get the drain plug out. Is there any pan that will work a lot better and fit right in without problems also is the any headers I can use that will clear the steering shaft. The ones on there now rub and I had to bend one in to make it work.

Some fresh motor mounts might lift the motor up some, or you could build some spacers and lower the sway bar. Maybe relocate the drain plug in the front sump while the pan is off.

What pan are you using? The motorsport 351w/Fox swap pan in my mustang is nowhere close to having the drain bung(s) in a bad spot...

Bodyman's advice about lowering the sway is good too.

If you are still using the stock steering shaft you need to swap over to one that does not have the rag joint. The Flaming River units are okay but the set screws with the jam nuts are almost as bad clearance wise. The Maximum Motorsport units are just about the best but they are pricey. I have had several brands and currently run the Maximum shafts in both my cars.

Move the sway bar down or just relocate the drain to the front of the front sump.

Thank you it's been a lot of help. Also what headers are you running? If you could post engine pictures that would be great

Mine are 1-7/8" custom built so probably not something most want to do. The thread on the exhaust build is in my signature.
