Fox Mustang door hinge pins=Fox Thunderbird door hinge pins?

Well since the Thunderbird is going to the body shop I figure I might as well have the door hinge pins changed. Late Model Restoration sells a kit for 87-93 Mustangs: https://lmr.com/item/LRS-23204-KIT/83-93-Mustang-Master-Door-Hinge-Pin-Bushing-Kit

This kit should work fine on my car correct?

That's what I'm using in mine.  The pins have enough length when held to my hinges.  Should work fine.  I just need to figure out what I can do to replace my rotted out door checks.

Thanks. I bought them. The pins will be going with the car to the body shop. I'll just have the driver side changed, as it's a little wiggly. The passenger side is still tight.

Found this on the check:

http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?38226-How-do-you-replace-a-lower-driver-s-quot-Door-Hinge-Check-quot-on-a-78-83-Ford

When you say check are you referring to the cylinder that has the pin through it?

Or the metal tab?  IF its the metal tab the last part number I have for that is E3SZ-63235A62-A.

I just replaced those on my driver's side a few months ago.  See below, before and after, exact same issue.  Bought mine on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1983-1988-FORD-THUNDERBIRD-LOWER-DOOR-HINGE-CHECK-ASBY-E3SZ-6323504-A-NEW-/142275924746?hash=item21204e530a:g:ABUAAOSwiDFYPM6K&vxp=mtr

The part number is different than what Aerocoupe and Eric have called out above.  Had to buy two of them as the one on my car was two pieces stacked on top of each other.  A single one does not "push" back with quite enough force.  I have also seen these on Cougars/Tbirds in the salvage yard where there is a rubber bushing mounted on these facing the frame ... not sure if that causes a difference in the part numbers.  I did not have these on mine.

Figured I would post up that part number in case the E-Bay link ever went away.  E3SZ-6323504-A.

I've heard that our pins were the same as the F-150 ones from the same era. Can anyone confirm??

Well in a few weeks I'll find out if the LMR Mustang hinge pins work, at least on my car :hick:.

Back when my car was being repainted (early 2001), the driver's door was sagging so the body guy bought one of those Help! hinge pin kits for it. IIRC there were two different sizes, we just picked the size that was closest and it was dead on. Been using it ever since with no issues. At that time, most door hinges used one of those two pin kits so it was no problem figuring out which one it was. Doesn't surprise me if a truck pin kit works on a car, or vice versa.

All I can tell you is that the hinges on my Fox Mustang suuuuuck compared to the Birds hinges.  I replaced all the hinges on my Bird in '98 when the car was repainted and they are still like new.  I have put three sets of pins and bushings in the Mustang since 2000 and just put the fourth set in last month.  You cannot replace the door side of the Mustang hinges as that is welded to the door which is a BS deal but I guess is cut down on assembly time.

I came across this thread recently because I'm rebuilding a door hinge.  The metal spring that holds the door check was broken like others - it turns out that both part numbers Aerocoupe provided are correct.  You need one of each (E3SZ-6323504-A and E3SZ-63235A62-A), one is the spring, the other is a reinforcement.

This help kits are junk, at least the last one I bought. I bought 4 to take car of a saggy hinge and an extra set for my other car.

I don't know what those bushing are made of, but I broke all but one of then with my fingers. I ended up buying a pipe  and drilling it out to the correct size that I picked up at tractor supply.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
