View Full Version : turbo coupe clutch

I have a clutch kit for a 1986 turbocoupe that i'm not going to install anymore and I have aquired another 87 turbo coupe with a 5.0 swapped in it that needs a clutch. Can I put the 4 banger t5 clutch in the 5.0 t5? And if not what would be the best direction to go with the 1986 turbo coupe? It has a little over 100,000 miles, needs a clutch, needs a crack in the turbo manifold fixed but other than thats its perfect. Well except for some rust here and there. I'm not going to be driving it now so I don't need to put the clutch in it anymore and I planned on swapping the interior out of it for the interior in my 87 5.0. (the 86 interior is near mint) I'm stuck at a crossroads. Would i be better off selling it as a parts car whole? I would be willing to let it go for $400 and 450 with the clutch. But there's the possibilty of holding on to the motor and tranny and putting them in a ranger later down the road or just selling them and junking the car. What would you do? Btw the title is still in my brothers name and he just left for the navy a couple weeks ago. We didn't have enough time to get it transfered before he left. Could we still get the title transfered?

The 5.0 should have a 10"('85 earlier) or 10.5" clutch('86 later). The TC clutch is gonna be 9.5" at best, so no it won't work. If it has interior parts that will make the '87 better, thats the route I'd take. If you're serious about the Ranger swap I'd keep it, as the '86 has the easest engine harness to work with. You can probably get more money parting it out, but you have to decide if the time and hassle is worth it. Otherwise swap interiors and find it a new home.

Dunno about the title, those things vary by state...
