Hey guys, Im am currently running a TC 8.8 rear end. When I swapped the rear end into my 88 tbird 3.8 I used the 7.5 axles and kept the rear drum brakes. I later observed that the 7.5 axles were too long and the bearings did not contact the bearing surface on the axles. I replaced the bearings with axle saver bearings which placed the bearings further out and allowed them to contact and seal on the axle.
With this said, everything I read says that the 1988 7.5 axles and 87/88 TC axles are the same length. I can verify that this is not true as it seems the TC rear uses shorter axles by about 1/4-1/2in on each side. I am reseaching this because I am about to oder custom Moser axles and need to know the length for an 8.8 TC rear. I need advice from those who have done this before and have some experience. Now I know what shoulda woulda but we all know that actual values can differ from the theoretical ones. Thanks guys
Ronnie
